The Role

Pearson PSG PAICE Software Engineering Group is seeking a highly motivatedSoftware Engineer III to design, develop, and maintain modern cloud-native applications that power the next generation of AI-enhanced content creation, assembly, management, and delivery solutions.

In this role, you will work on a cloud-based platform that transforms traditional publishing and educational content workflows into a seamless, intelligent, and scalable experience. The platform enables authors and content creators to build, customize, align, and deliver portable, platform-agnostic content while leveraging AI-assisted capabilities for content generation, transformation, and workflow automation.

As a Full Stack Engineer, you will contribute across the entire technology stack, building responsive user experiences, scalable microservices, APIs, and cloud-native backend systems. You will collaborate with product managers, architects, UX designers, content specialists, AI engineers, and other software engineers to deliver innovative solutions that support content authoring, PDF transformation, learning framework management, and digital content distribution.

This role is ideal for an engineer who thrives in a highly collaborative environment, has strong technical depth across front-end and back-end technologies, and embraces modern software engineering practices including AI-assisted development, event-driven architecture, microservices, and cloud-native application design.

What You'll Own

You will participate throughout the software development lifecycle, including:

  • Technical design and architecture

  • Application development and integration

  • AI-assisted feature implementation

  • Automated testing and quality engineering

  • Cloud deployment and operational support

  • Performance optimization and monitoring

  • Production support and issue resolution

  • Continuous improvement of engineering practices

Success in this role requires strong technical fundamentals, ownership mentality, problem-solving skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively across multiple disciplines.

Key Responsibilities

Full Stack Development

  • Design, develop, and maintain modern web applications using React, TypeScript, and Node.js.

  • Build scalable backend services and APIs using Python-based microservices.

  • Develop highly available, secure, and performant cloud-native solutions.

  • Collaborate with UX and product teams to deliver intuitive and engaging user experiences.

AI & Agentic Engineering

  • Develop and integrate AI-powered capabilities that improve content authoring, creation, assembly, and delivery workflows.

  • Leverage modern agentic engineering practices to automate business processes and improve operational efficiency.

  • Participate in the evaluation, integration, and optimization of AI services, LLM-based solutions, and intelligent workflows.

  • Collaborate with AI engineers and data teams to deliver AI-enhanced product capabilities.

Content Platform Development

  • Build solutions that enable the creation and customization of portable, platform-agnostic narrative content.

  • Develop systems that transform PDF-based learning materials into responsive, multimedia-rich digital experiences.

  • Support learning framework creation, content alignment, metadata management, and content lifecycle workflows.

  • Design scalable services that support large-scale content ingestion, transformation, and distribution.

Cloud & Platform Engineering

  • Design and implement microservices architectures on AWS.

  • Deploy and support applications using modern CI/CD pipelines.

  • Develop cloud solutions utilizing:

  • AWS Lambda

  • ECS

  • DynamoDB

  • S3

  • Build integrations using messaging and queue-based technologies.

  • Participate in architecture discussions focused on scalability, resilience, and fault tolerance.

Engineering Excellence

  • Write clean, maintainable, testable, and well-documented code.

  • Participate in code reviews and technical design reviews.

  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to a culture of learning and technical excellence.

  • Drive continuous improvement in software quality, security, performance, and reliability.

  • Support agile development processes and participate in sprint planning, estimation, and retrospectives.

Required Qualifications
