    Job Title: Oracle OCI Cloud Engineer

    Location(s): Richmond, VA
    (Hybrid: 3 days onsite, 2 days remote)
    Work Schedule:

    • Some after-hours and weekend work required based on workload
    • Participation in an on-call rotation is mandatory
    • Must be available to provide evening and weekend support for patching, maintenance, and critical production issues

    Interview Process:

    • One or two rounds of technical interviews
    • 2-hour onsite technical work sample (machine test)

    Job Summary:
    Seeking a highly experienced Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) professional with extensive expertise in Oracle databases, middleware, cloud infrastructure, and automation. The ideal candidate will be responsible for administering, maintaining, securing, and optimizing enterprise Oracle environments while ensuring high availability, disaster recovery, and operational excellence. This role requires strong production support experience, including participation in after-hours maintenance and on-call support.

    Required Qualifications:

    • 10+ years of hands-on experience with Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI)
    • Strong experience with Oracle Application Express (APEX) 18 or later
    • Strong experience with Oracle REST Data Services (ORDS) 22 or later
    • Experience administering Oracle WebLogic Server 14 (Fusion Middleware and WebLogic Suite)
    • Extensive experience with Oracle Database 19c and Oracle Database 26ai
    • Experience with Container Databases (CDB) and Pluggable Databases (PDB)
    • Experience upgrading Oracle Database from 19c to 26ai
    • Linux/Unix administration and shell scripting expertise
    • Experience with PDB cloning
    • RMAN backup and recovery administration
    • Oracle WebLogic patching and maintenance
    • Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM) 24ai
    • Oracle Database PSU patching using Fleet Management Tool
    • Experience managing Oracle Database as a Service (DBaaS) in OCI
    • Experience using GitLab and Ansible for automation
    • Oracle Data Guard administration

    Additional Qualifications:

    • Strong understanding of cloud architecture and cloud computing concepts
    • Experience designing high-availability and disaster recovery solutions
    • Experience with Oracle Enterprise Manager Cloud Control
    • Familiarity with Docker and Kubernetes
    • Scripting experience using Python and JavaScript
    • Strong understanding of Oracle database security best practices
    • Database performance tuning and optimization expertise
    • Excellent troubleshooting and analytical skills
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills
    • Ability to collaborate effectively with development and DevOps teams
    • Ability to provide 24x7 production support for critical systems

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Oracle certifications (OCIP, OCP, OCE, or equivalent)
    • Experience with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins or GitLab CI
    • Understanding of microservices architecture
    • Experience with API integration

    • Design, deploy, and manage Oracle Cloud Infrastructure environments
    • Administer Oracle databases, middleware, and OCI infrastructure
    • Develop and maintain Oracle APEX applications and ORDS services
    • Configure, administer, patch, and maintain Oracle WebLogic Server environments
    • Plan and execute Oracle database upgrades, migrations, and platform conversions
    • Implement backup, recovery, replication, and disaster recovery solutions using RMAN and Oracle Data Guard
    • Monitor database health, availability, and performance using Oracle Enterprise Manager
    • Perform database tuning and performance optimization
    • Automate administrative tasks using shell scripting, Ansible, GitLab, and other automation tools
    • Support application deployments in collaboration with development and DevOps teams
    • Perform Oracle database and middleware patching during scheduled maintenance windows
    • Troubleshoot and resolve production issues in a timely manner
    • Document system architecture, operational procedures, and best practices
    • Provide technical guidance and knowledge transfer to team members
    • Participate in after-hours maintenance activities, weekend deployments, and on-call production support rotations
