Job description

Position Summary

Hopkins | Lacy, the mechanical, electrical, plumbing division of Branch Group is searching for a Sheet Metal Field Superintendent. The Field Superintendent is jointly responsible with the Project Manager for the overall success of any project. They are responsible for scheduling, controlling costs, and managing resources on an assigned project. They also provide continuousfieldsupervision while performing hands on installation as part of the crew of all construction operations. The Field Superintendent aims toย attainย or exceed profit goals andย promotesย workplace safety while meeting or exceeding company expectations. They also promote a positive company image andย isย the leader on their assigned project,ย ultimately responsibleย for its operation success.

Duties/Responsibilities
  • This position is part of the crew and isย requireย to performย field work laborย majorityย of the time.ย 
  • Works with tools in the field when needed /ย requiredย 
  • Builds and sees through projectย in accordance withย all project contract documents, plans, and specificationsย 
  • Ensures compliance with all building codes, local ordinances, and company guidelinesย 
  • Becomes thoroughly familiar with project contract documents, payment methods, plans, specifications, subcontracts, purchase orders, shop drawings, key dates, liquidated dates, and all other documents relevant to the projectย 
  • Ensuresย accurateย layout of workย in accordance withย project plans and specifications and verifies sameย 
  • Responsible forย maintainingย professional relations with company owner, the project engineer, and all other members of the construction teamย 
  • Ensures thatย appropriate partiesย are notifiedย regardingย changes or concerns in the construction planย 
  • Participates in pricing of changed/additional workย 
  • With the Project Manager, the Superintendent develops/updates a Grand Plan/Schedule of operation and effectively communicates this plan to employees. Ensures thatย appropriate partiesย are informedย regardingย major changes in the construction plan, schedule, means, and methods or allocation of resourcesย 
  • Identifies, measures, and reports toย PMย work changes as they pertain to contract documents. Participates in pricing of changed/additional work. Documents, or delegates documentation, or allย additionalย work performed via daily reports/Superintendent's diariesย 
  • In concert with the Project Manager, and prior to beginning work,ย developsย a Grand Plan/Schedule of operation and effectivelyย communicatesย toย all employees. Reviews schedule during project to ensure deadlines are met, notifiesย appropriate partiesย of all delays or potential delays, and documents delays. With the PM,ย makesย sureย thanย scheduleย is updated.ย 
  • Participates in the preparation and communication of construction execution plan, progress schedule, and projection of labor and equipment requirementsย 

  • Supervises subcontractors (if applicable) to ensure quality and schedule requirementsย 

Duties/Responsibilities Cont.
  • Clearly conveys potential risks and areas of concern to the PM. Works in concert with the PM to resolve conflicts and mitigate risksย 
  • Is responsible forย on-site safety meetings and implementation of effective safety proceduresย 
  • Prior to construction, reviews with Project Manager andย submitsย comments of detail budget, time restraints, cost codes, and purchase controlย 
  • Accurately documents labor and equipmentย usageย so the costs reflect the actual work performed in the field.ย 
  • Establishes a contractually acceptable level of quality by which all completed work is measuredย 
  • Is responsible forย on-site safety meetings and implementation of effective safety programsย 
  • Is responsible forย meeting all OSHA and VOSHA standards and the enforcement of the Miss Utility policy for the entire projectย 
  • Is responsible forย recruitment,ย deploymentย and termination of hourly field personnelย in accordance withย company business needs and policies. ย 
Qualifications
  • Ability to make decisions in high pressure environmentย 
  • Acts with professional, ethical mannerismsย 
  • Understands building systems and their interface with each otherย 
  • Master's license in Sheet Metal (preferred)ย 
  • High School Diploma or Equivalentย 
  • Working knowledge in standards, specifications, codes, regulations, and lawsย 
  • 8-10 years' experience in constructionย 
  • 3-5 years' experience in supervisory positionย 
  • High School level mathematic and language skillsย 
  • Valid Driver's License/Maintainย Branch Group "Approved Driver" statusย 
  • Genuine concern & sense of urgencyย 
  • Ability to keep up morale on the jobย 
Compensation

Salary Min: $73,325

Salary Max: $125,720

Actual compensation will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors.

Supervisory Responsibility

This position will oversee foreman and craft workers.ย 

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employeeย is regularly required toย use their hands and fingers to handle, feel orย operateย objects, tools, or controls, and reach with hands and arms. They will need to stand (approximately 60%), walk (approximately 30%), and sit (approximately 10%). The employee will also need to be able to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, handle, feel, talk, and hear.The employee will need to be able to carry up to 75lbs,ย lift upย to 100lbs, and move up to 200lbs.Specific visionย abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, midrange vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.ย 

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position which typically requires 40 per week.
