Job description

Provides psychotherapy to assigned youth and their families, which includes, but is not limited to individual, family, and group therapy. Generally, uses interventions based on Cognitive-Behavioral theory. Leads assigned youth's multidisciplinary team, completes initial assessments, develops a Comprehensive Treatment Plan for assigned youth, and ensures appropriate discharge planning.MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES
  • Completes an initial Biopsychosocial Assessment and Initial Comprehensive Treatment Plan for each assigned youth within 14 days of admission.
  • Documents all therapeutic interactions with youth and their family/guardian on an ongoing basis following all program and hospital guidelines for documentation.
  • Serves as multidisciplinary team leader for assigned youth while ensuring the ongoing implementation of a Comprehensive Treatment Plan for each youth.Multidisciplinary team members include professionals and family members connected with youth's welfare and treatment.
  • Reviews and documents the progress and barriers every 30 days.
  • Works closely with the Supervising Medical Practitioner to ensure appropriate interventions are implemented for youth assigned.
  • Provides individual, family, and group therapy to youth assigned. Generally, uses Cognitive Behavioral theory supported by the Boys Town Psychoeducational Model.
  • Serves as a primary communicator between assigned youth's families and/or guardians and others involved.
  • Works collaboratively and professionally with community agencies to ensure a smooth transition of assigned youth.
  • Responsible for notification of appropriate agencies or authorities regarding potential abuse or neglect, safety concerns, and youth rights violations. Keeps the PRTF Director or designee and the Medical Director/Supervising Practitioner apprised as appropriate.
  • Complies with applicable trainings, policies, and procedures regarding emergency safety situations for a youth that may require physical intervention (personal restraint).
  • Displays professionalism through a willingness to act as a multidisciplinary team member, including helping with coverage needs when applicable. Consistently implementing and supporting the Psychoeducational Model of treatment including the ability to give, receive, implement and solicit feedback in a timely manner.
  • Demonstrates effective communication with coworkers, supervisors, and consumers while taking responsibility for personal and professional development through attendance at mandatory staff meetings and training sessions.
  • Models appropriate life skills including hygiene, grooming, dress, manners, and language.
  • Participates in Clinical Supervision based upon the state guidelines with assigned Licensed Mental Health Provider.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
  • Ability to work with a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Ability to resolve conflicts calmly and effectively.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely while working with a diverse population of internal and external professionals as well as PRTF youth, staff, and consumers.
  • Ability to maintain appropriate levels of confidentiality and reporting.
  • Ability to be flexible and respond to change in a positive manner.
  • Provides clinical therapy to youth and families with mental health and behavioral concerns.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Master's degree in Counseling or Social Work is required.
  • Certified, or eligible for certification, by the State of Nebraska Department of Health as a licensed Mental Health Practitioner required.
  • PEM training within 6 months of transfer or hire required.
  • Possess a valid driver's license with a good driving record required.
  • Pass an annual Motor Vehicle Registration (MVR) check is required.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule to reasonably accommodate the needs of families served required.
  • Obtain CPR certification and training in nationally recognized personal restraint model obtained during Preservice required.
  • Minimum 20 years of age required.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Minimum of two years of experience working with behavioral disordered youth and training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy preferred.
