    Job Description
    Bose Software Organization is seeking an experienced Senior Firmware Manager who can lead and drive our embedded software solutions of consumer electronic products to the next level of excellence and evolve the software technology along the products roadmap. This is a position requiring both strong leadership across regions and hands-on technical experience driving consistent embedded software to accommodate foreseeable many years of product roadmap. It requires one to embrace 'can-do' attitude and possess business acumen of understanding priorities, cost effectiveness, and significance of on-time deliveries with fast turnaround and well-planned software activities.
    Hybrid working environment, 3-days/week on-site presence is required for this leadership position.
    Key Responsibilities:
    • Manage a team of embedded software technical leaders and drive day-to-day activities of cross-functional engineering teams.
    • Manage the resources of your team including hiring, mentoring and driving continuous improvement.
    • Work across cross functional teams (Quality, Cloud, EE, Acoustics, Product, Program, user experience, Support, etc) to ensure our products implement the right features with the highest quality.
    • Utilize deep embedded software experience to drive best-in-class end-to-end software releases and deliverables on-time, driving maintainable, scalable and reusable software design across one or more teams.
    • Work with staff and peers to develop short and long term plans, managing resourcing, prioritization and schedules.
    • Develop deep understanding of underlying SW/HW architecture and system and ensure engineering/test approaches fit in the overall strategy.
    • Work collaboratively with software architects, product management, external software teams and cross-functional engineering teams to ensure all teams are in sync and delivering products/features to market on time.

    Minimum Qualifications:
    • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field.
    • 15+ years of embedded software development experience across the full product lifecycle (requirements, design, development, testing, deployment, and support).
    • 10+ years of cross-functional technical leadership delivering embedded products from concept through mass production.
    • 5+ years of people management experience leading high-performing engineering teams of 10+ engineers.
    • Proven experience hiring, mentoring, developing, and managing engineering talent.
    • Demonstrated success delivering commercial embedded products on schedule, within budget, and meeting quality/KPI targets.
    • Experience leading multiple cross-functional engineering teams and collaborating with Product, Program Management, Hardware, Quality, UX, Cloud, and other disciplines.
    • Experience defining technical requirements, project estimates, resource planning, prioritization, and execution.
    • Strong expertise in embedded software architecture, software design, and scalable software development practices.
    • Experience with C and/or C++ for embedded systems.
    • Experience developing embedded Linux and Android native software.
    • Experience with complex embedded software running on resource-constrained RTOS-based systems.
    • Experience leading teams using test-driven development (TDD) or equivalent software quality practices.
    • Experience delivering firmware/software for at least one product successfully launched into mass production.
    • Strong systems-level understanding spanning hardware, software, and user experience.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

    Preferred Qualifications:
    • Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or Computer Engineering or other related fields
    • Experience delivering a family of products built on a common embedded software platform
    • Experience with Bluetooth or other wireless communication protocols
    • Experience with audio processing, Digital Signal Processing (DSP), embedded security. data analytics
    • Experience working on consumer electronics or high-volume embedded products
    • Experience driving software reuse and platform architecture across multiple product lines
