Senior Manufacturing Engineer - ATLO - Millennium Space Systems

Millennium Space Systems (MSS) has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Manufacturing Engineer - ATLO (Level 4) to join the MSS team in El Segundo, CA!

Strong communication and organizational skills are critical to success in this position, along with the ability to build strong relationships, collaborate in a cross-functional environment, and utilize problem-solving skills to proactively identify and manage risks and opportunities.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Oversees, develops, coordinates, integrates, analyzes, and maintains integrated plans and schedules for highly complex or difficult projects, programs and change driven activities to execute in accordance with project management industry standards
  • Coordinate with leadership teams to drive high level improvements to increase production capacity and throughput, reduce space vehicle build hours and quality issues, and remove waste from complex processes
  • Directs and provides high level studies/analysis (trend, variance, impact), determines scope, reports, and oversight of planning requests
  • Identifies risk and opportunity potential, develops mitigation planning and refines the business case
  • Develops and executes the process and strategy for the integration of plans and schedules
  • Consults and recommends integrated planning, scheduling, change and baseline management, processes, techniques and tools to management considered to be best practices across the industry
  • Recognized as primary project contact to establish key stakeholder requirements and project objectives
  • Authorizes commitment of resources by obtaining approvals from stakeholders
  • Oversees deployment of approved recommendations at Division, Business Unit, and/or Enterprise levels

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.

This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor's Degree or higher from an accredited course of study, in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering or similar Engineering degree
  • 5+ years of experience reading and interpreting engineering drawings and technical data
  • 5+ years of experience in a manufacturing or assembly environment
  • 5+ years of experience leading various problem solving methods (i.e. Root Cause Analysis, 5 Whys, or other assessment, audit and investigative models)

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Experience with integration of complex assemblies, including test experience
  • 7+ years of experience with one or more of the following within the Manufacturing Operations function (Shop Floor Manufacturing Operations, Production/Manufacturing Engineering, Integration & Test Engineering, or Industrial Engineering)
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical assemblies, manufacturing processes, or industry standards
  • Foundation in electromechanical or mechatronic concepts
  • Thorough understanding of root cause analysis and related analytical methodology (Five Whys, Fishbone/Ishikawa Analysis, 8D, etc.) and root cause driven engineering changes
    Aerospace and/or DOD Experience
  • Experience or relevant course work in any of the following: Six Sigma, Lean+, Manufacturing and/or Process Improvement
  • Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field from an accredited university

Summary pay range for $135,150 - $182,850
