Job description

Description:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive ChromeOS Support Specialist to join our IS operations team. In this role, you will be the backbone of our end-user ecosystem, managing the entire lifecycle of enterprise/educational devices and administering our Google Workspace environment.

You will balance hands-on technical support with rigorous asset management, ensuring that our fleet of Chromebooks, peripherals, and cloud infrastructure remains secure, organized, and fully operational for all end-users.

Requirements:1. Google Workspace Administration
  • Configure, manage, and maintain the organization’s Google Workspace Admin Console.
  • Handle user lifecycle management, including onboarding, offboarding, account provisioning, and organizational unit (OU) mapping.
  • Enforce security protocols via Google Workspace, including 2-Step Verification (2SV), password policies, and data loss prevention (DLP) rules.
  • Manage shared drives, core Google apps (Gmail, Calendar, Drive, Docs), and third-party marketplace app integrations.
2. ChromeOS & Device Management
  • Enroll, configure, and deploy ChromeOS devices utilizing Chrome Enterprise/Education Upgrade licenses.
  • Establish, push, and audit device policies (e.g., kiosk modes, extension allowlists, Wi-Fi profiles, network certificates) via the Admin Console.
  • Provide tier-1 and tier-2 technical support for ChromeOS, Windows/macOS endpoints, and classroom/office AV hardware.
  • Troubleshoot hardware, OS bugs, connectivity issues, and peripheral compatibility (monitors, printers, docking stations).
3. Asset Management & Lifecycle Tracking
  • Maintain an accurate, real-time inventory of all physical hardware assets using our Asset Management System.
  • Oversee the physical receiving, tagging, etching, and distribution of new devices.
  • Track device assignments, loaner fleets, repair statuses, and warranty data.
  • Manage the secure decommissioning, data sanitization, and e-waste recycling of end-of-life hardware.
Qualifications & Skills
  • Experience: 2+ years of experience in an IT support, helpdesk, or desktop support role, preferably within an educational institution or corporate enterprise environment.
  • Technical Expertise: Strong working knowledge of the Google Workspace Admin Console and ChromeOS ecosystem. Experience with traditional operating systems (Windows/macOS) is a plus.
  • Hardware Knowledge: Comfortable with physical device troubleshooting, component swapping (screens, keyboards, batteries), and inventory auditing.
  • Certifications (Preferred): Google Professional Google Workspace Administrator, Google IT Support Professional Certificate, or CompTIA A+.
  • Soft Skills: Exceptional communication skills, a patient customer-service mindset, and the organizational skills needed to track hundreds of moving physical assets.
