Birdon America, Inc. is seeking an Pipe Department Foreman to join our growing team at our Bayou La Batre, Alabama shipyard. This is a great opportunity for you to provide your knowledge and skills to a growing company in building a new Coast Guard vessel.
- Roles and Responsibilities:
- Supervise and direct daily activities of pipefitters, welders, and pipe department personnel.
- Plan, organize, and schedule manpower, equipment, and materials to meet project deadlines.
- Read and interpret blueprints, specifications, drawings, and contract documents.
- Coordinate piping installations with project managers, general contractors, and other trades.
- Ensure all piping systems are installed according to applicable codes, standards, and project requirements.
- Conduct routine inspections to verify workmanship and quality control standards.
- Monitor productivity and identify opportunities to improve efficiency.
- Train, mentor, and evaluate pipe department personnel.
- Order and track materials, tools, and equipment required for project completion.
- Maintain job site safety and ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and company policies.
- Troubleshoot installation issues and develop effective solutions in the field.
- Participate in project meetings and provide progress updates to management.
- Complete and submit daily reports, timekeeping records, and project documentation.
Qualifications / Skills / Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years of pipefitting experience, with supervisory or foreman experience preferred.
- Extensive knowledge of commercial and industrial piping systems.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and construction documents.
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Knowledge of OSHA safety requirements and industry best practices.
- Experience coordinating multiple crews and projects simultaneously.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
