Join us in building the autopilot for legal services
Today, legal work is done the way it has been done for a century - manually, by humans, in six-minute increments. Every contract drafted from scratch. Every memo researched line by line. Every matter running through layers of review that someone is paying for at hundreds of dollars an hour.
That is about to change. We believe that in five years, more than 80% of legal work will pass through a model before it ever reaches a human. The implication is not faster lawyers - it is a fundamentally different way that legal services get bought and procured.

We are going after the services spend, not the software spend - helping law firms restructure their delivery model around AI, and helping in-house teams do the same. One engine of agents and workflows underneath every matter we touch.

The Opportunity
August is building the world's largest AI-native legal services company - and rewriting how law firms scale. Our agents mimic a lawyers' reasoning, research, and drafting, and our workflows already outperform lawyers in third-party evaluations. We're targeting mid-market law firms, automating their legal work and allowing them to provide our tools directly to their clients. Join August at an early stage as we scale our agents to process thousands of documents simultaneously and create outputs exceeding human-level accuracy.
What You'll Do
  • Own deployments end-to-end: architect, build, and ship August into production at law firms - scope the integration, write the code, run the cutover, and stay on it until it's stable. You decide what "done" means.
  • Build the integrations that touch everything: ship the adapters, webhooks, and APIs that wire August into iManage, NetDocs, SharePoint, Outlook, and Word add-ins; implement SSO/SAML/OIDC, tenant isolation, and ingestion pipelines that hold up at enterprise scale.
  • Turn one-off work into platform: every deployment is raw material - extract the patterns, harden them into configurable modules, SDKs, and internal tooling, and make the next firm onboard in half the time.
  • Debug live, in production, under pressure: when a migration stalls, a policy blocks a write, or a legacy system returns garbage, you trace it, root-cause it, and ship the fix the same day. Instrument everything so the next deployment doesn't hit the same wall.

About You
  • 3+ years of production software engineering experience (full-stack or platform); you're a strong generalist who can navigate an unfamiliar codebase quickly, debug hairy integration issues, and ship reliable code under real constraints.
  • Strong command of TypeScript/JavaScript (React/Next.js) and at least one backend language (Python preferred); comfortable writing API clients, data transformation scripts, and lightweight services from scratch.
  • Engineering instincts that favor shipping: you default to the smallest working solution, add observability from day one, and treat each deployment as a learning loop - not a one-time project.
  • Thrives in high-ownership, fast-moving environments: you're energized by ambiguity, can context-switch between deep technical problems and high-level architecture discussions, and take pride in building things that actually work in the wild.
