Position Summary:

The Marshes for Tomorrow Technician position will support the implementation of The Marshes for Tomorrow Plan (Curson et al. 2025). This position is a seasonal, full-time role working closely alongside the entire Audubon Mid-Atlantic's Coasts Team.

  • Length of Assignment: August 31, 2026, to January 29, 2027

  • Hours: 40 hours per week, flexible to work early mornings, weekend days and holiday shifts as needed.

This role is classified as hybrid based at the Baltimore Office but with travel to Maryland's Eastern Shore, specifically Dorchester and Somerset counties.

Compensation:

$21.63 / hour

Additional Job Description

Essential Functions

  • Support Senior Marsh Restoration Project Manager during marsh restoration site visits under active construction in salt marsh habitat.

  • Support Coastal Avian Biologist by performing data quality checks and summarizing field collected data for grant and technical reports.

  • In collaboration with the Coastal Program Manager and external partners, participate and support the Engagement Team's objectives.

  • Prepare logistics and complete in-person meetings for the purpose of community and landowner engagement.

  • Assist with collecting and contributing to Marshes for Tomorrow media content through photos, videos, and brief written content, such as field activity summaries.

  • Additional duties may be assigned to support all aspects of the Coastal Program.

  • Maintain and fosters culture of safety.

  • Collaborate with Audubon staff to ensure that equity, diversity, inclusion and belonging principles are incorporated and followed in all aspects of our work.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree (completed or in progress) in biology, wildlife management, or related field.

  • Ability to work in an organized fashion, pay attention to detail, take initiative, and problem-solve in the field as part of a small, collaborative team.

  • Ability to follow scientific protocols.

  • Must have valid driver's license and safe driving record (an Audubon vehicle will be provided for travel between field sites).

  • Flexible approach to work, as early mornings, regular weekend and holiday shifts are required, as well as frequent schedule changes based on site needs, tidal restrictions, and weather conditions.

  • Willingness to traverse for long distances in muddy, uneven terrain, and be able to maneuver with at least 40 lbs.with our without accommodation.

  • Willing to work in a variety of weather conditions including direct sun, hot and humid temperatures, light rain, saltwater, and biting insects.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite software for data entry and report writing and experience with GPS units.

  • Experience and ability to communicate clearly via written, spoken, and graphical means along with responding to communications in a prompt and timely manner.
