Job description

Job Description

The Perioperative Nurse in Pre-admission Testing plays a vital role in ensuring patients are well-prepared for their surgical journey. You will be responsible for collecting and analyzing patient data, conducting thorough assessments, and providing essential support to patients and their families. This role is crucial in ensuring a smooth and successful surgical experience, as you will be the key point of contact for patients, physicians, and the healthcare team.

Responsibilities
  • Provide exceptional patient care and family support, ensuring a positive perioperative experience.
  • Conduct comprehensive nursing assessments and collect patient data for clinical overview.
  • Review and analyze patient medical history, surgical history, and current medications.
  • Communicate effectively with healthcare team members, including anesthesiologists and surgeons.
  • Ensure patients are appropriate candidates for scheduled procedures at AtlantiCare Surgery Center.
  • Implement and manage individualized perioperative patient care plans.
  • Complete pre-operative telephone calls, providing instructions and ensuring patient understanding.
  • Maintain accurate medical records and ensure patient information is up-to-date.
  • Work collaboratively with the Executive Medical Director for complex patient cases.
  • Promote a positive and supportive work environment, fostering teamwork and cooperation.
Qualifications
  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing; Bachelor's in nursing preferred.
  • Current Registered Nurse licensure in the State of New Jersey is mandatory.
  • 1-3 years of medical/surgical experience with strong assessment skills is required.
  • Previous Ambulatory surgery or PAT experience is preferred.
  • Critical Care experience is an asset.
  • Proficiency in Clinical Applications is preferred, with training provided upon hire.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to adapt to changing schedules.
  • Good organization and prioritizing skills, with a focus on attention to detail.
  • Computer literacy and proficiency in relevant software.
  • Ability to work independently and make sound decisions in emergency situations.
