    Summary/Objective:
    The Sheet Metal Mechanic fabricates, assembles, installs and repairs sheet metal using relevant equipment such as plenums, fire dampers, and diffusers.
    Essential Functions:
    • Installs distribution lines and equipment per plans, specifications and other contract documents
    • Installs joints of duct such as slide and drive, TDF, snap lock, and other assemblies as required
    • Reviews and converts blueprint specifications into shop drawings to be followed in the construction or assembly of sheet metal products
    • Erects and installs equipment such as air handling units, VAV boxes, fan power boxes, and others as required
    • Works safely and complies with applicable health and safety-related rules, regulations, and procedures
    • Installs ductless mini-splits
    • Determines project requirements, such as scope, assembly sequences, required methods, materials, using blueprints, drawings, written or verbal instructions
    • Fastens seems or joints together with welds, bolts, cement, rivets, solder, caulks, metal drive clips, or bonds to assemble components to products or to repair sheet metal items
    • Fabricates ducts for high efficiency heating ventilating, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems to maximize efficiency of systems
    • Selects gauges or types of sheet metal or nonmetallic material, according to product specifications
    • Trains and mentors' helper/trainees
    • Performs other duties as assigned

    Supervisory Responsibility: No
    Required:
    • 3+ years of experience in sheet metal mechanic field; or equivalent combination of vocational training and experience
    • Familiarity with ductmate, spiral, slide and drive ductwork
    • Must be able to multi-task, work with minimal supervision, follow written and oral instructions, show attention to detail and demonstrate problem-solving skills
    • Must adhere to all company policy and procedures
    • Must be available, and have the means to report to multiple job sites as assigned

    The work environment and physical demands required would be representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job, and may include, but are not limited to the following:
    Work Environment:
    • May work in varying temperatures; both inside and outside, including inclement weather, heat, humidity, cold and dampness
    • May work in areas with exposure to moderate/high noise levels
    • May be exposed to fumes or airborne particles including dust
    • May be required to work in confined spaces or from high heights

    Physical Demands:
    • This role routinely uses construction equipment such as heavy machinery, hand and power tools
    • While performing duties of the job the employee may work aloft, climb, bend, pull, reach overhead, stand/walk for long periods of time and lift up to 50 lbs.
    • Frequently is required to use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls; and reach with hands and arms
    • Must be able to correctly identify all colors of a color-coded cable/wires and see close vision, distance vision, depth perception, peripheral vision and ability to adjust focus
