Job description

We are seeking dedicated and empathetic Board Certified Youth Peer Support Specialists (PSS) to work with children and young adults up to age 21. As a Youth PSS, you will use your own lived experience with mental health recovery to connect with clients, provide guidance, and empower them through the unique challenges of adolescence and young adulthood. This is a meaningful opportunity to transform your personal journey into hope for others.

Locations: Rockland, Orange, Westchester, Brooklyn, and Bronx.

Responsibilities:

  • Build trusting, supportive relationships with youth through shared experience and understanding.

  • Encourage self-advocacy, resilience, and recovery-oriented goals.

  • Assist clients in navigating school, family, and community challenges.

  • Collaborate with families and care teams to create individualized support plans.

  • Document services provided and progress achieved.

  • Provide crisis support when needed.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.

  • Age 18–30 preferred (must be at least 18).

  • In recovery from a mental health condition.

  • Minimum of 2 years related experience in a support role (personal or professional).

  • Board Certified candidates are highly valued and can receive an increased hourly rate.

  • Strong communication, empathy, and peer engagement skills.

  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
