    Job description

    Applied Technical Services, LLC, is a leading provider of critical testing, inspection, certification, and compliance services. The company serves clients across a diverse set of large and stable end markets including manufacturing, power generation, aerospace, medical, and defense. ATS was founded in 1967 and is headquartered in Marietta, GA. Today the Company employs nearly 2,100 team members in over 95 locations across the United States.
    K Prime, a Family Company of Applied Technical Services, was founded by Ph.D. Analytical Chemists as a consulting firm offering litigation support and data validation services for high-profile court cases involving product liability, wrongful death, as well as large sampling and analysis projects. The K Prime Laboratory was developed to address the needs of K Prime's consulting chemists and their clients. The K Prime Air Toxics laboratory began providing EPA TO-14 analysis from SUMMA canisters in 1989 and added additional testing capability over time, focused on supporting attorneys, manufacturing and engineering firms, as well as governmental organizations, with the highest quality data and services.
    POSITION SUMMARY: Prepares and processes equipment used in sensitive field sampling projects by clients. Track equipment rental requests, track outgoing and incoming equipment, and logistics for all aspects of the department's rental supplies. Log incoming samples and equipment, into the computer system and perform preliminary testing of samples. Also provides assistance to Sample Control Manager, Staff Scientists, and Laboratory Director in a variety of laboratory and administrative functions.
    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
    • Processing Sampling Equipment
      • Follows strict laboratory procedures to achieve zero-defect outcomes
      • Uses specialized instruments to clean sampling equipment
      • Completes hands on mechanical work with wrenches, nuts, and valves
      • Changes pressurized tanks
      • Calibrates sensitive equipment to meet lab and client specifications
      • Checks equipment for proper function; repairs as needed
      • Understands and fulfills client orders
      • Assembles and ships orders per specifications, occasionally lifting up to 50 lbs
      • Precisely maintains laboratory logs to provide accurate historical records
      • Multi-tasks, handles pressure and deadlines
      • Works well individually and with others; serves as a reliable team member
    • General Laboratory Assistance
      • Assigns samples into proper batches with associated quality control
      • Maintains cleanliness of laboratory, to include maintaining clean glassware
      • Shares responsibility for accepting deliveries of samples and supplies, as required
      • Orders supplies, as approved by Managers, maintenance of the Company Purchase Order Book, and maintains inventory for sample containers and shipping supplies
    • Customer Service:
      • Understands customer needs and meets customers' required timelines
      • Assists in maintaining lab work files and tracking lists, completion of incoming chain-of-custody documents, change orders and work files
      • Assembles and ships container kits
    • Strictly follows all company procedures regarding quality control and safety
      • Works only on authorized activities
      • Work at all times under the supervision of the Laboratory Director or his designated representatives
    • Additional duties may be assigned in operation of the laboratory computer tracking and inventory systems, operation of laboratory equipment, receiving samples, testing samples, and other work as needed

    Requirements:
    • Previous laboratory experience strongly preferred
    • High school diploma and strong math skills are required; Chemistry degree preferred
    • Excellent work ethic, team player, detail oriented, and organized individual
    • Ability to prioritize tasks to meet deadlines and client needs
    • Ability to follow lab procedures precisely
    • Strong oral and written communication skills, including clear, legible handwriting.
