Job description

Environmental Engineer – Industrial Wastewater

Preferred Location: Greenville, SC
Experience Level: 3–10+ Years
Salary: $90,000 – $120,000 DOE + 15–20% Bonus Potential
Travel: 10–15%

We are seeking a licensed Environmental Engineer to serve as a technical leader in the evaluation, design, permitting, and compliance of complex industrial wastewater pretreatment and treatment systems.

This role is ideal for an engineer who thrives in a client-facing environment, exercises independent engineering judgment, and enjoys solving technically challenging wastewater problems.

You will support industrial facilities and consulting projects involving complex wastewater streams and regulatory frameworks — while mentoring junior staff and influencing project direction.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead process evaluation, selection, and design of industrial wastewater treatment and pretreatment systems
  • Develop and review Basis of Design (BOD) documents, hydraulic/process calculations, PFDs, and equipment specifications
  • Troubleshoot underperforming systems and implement corrective action plans
  • Prepare capital cost estimates, O&M evaluations, and lifecycle cost analyses
  • Serve as a technical lead during regulatory inspections, audits, and enforcement actions
  • Review laboratory data and establish treatment performance metrics and compliance targets
  • Contribute technical expertise to proposals, feasibility studies, and regulatory strategy development
  • Mentor junior engineers and review technical deliverables

What You Bring

Required Qualifications

  • B.S. in Environmental, Chemical, or Civil Engineering
  • Active PE License in at least one U.S. state (South Carolina preferred)
  • 3–10+ years of industrial wastewater design experience
  • 3–5+ years of project management experience

Technical Expertise

  • Demonstrated experience leading wastewater treatment design and permitting efforts
  • Strong knowledge of industrial pretreatment regulations and POTW coordination
  • Proven ability to apply independent engineering judgment and manage technical risk
  • Experience troubleshooting and optimizing treatment systems
  • Strong technical writing and client communication skills

Work Environment

This position includes a combination of office and field work at active industrial facilities. Travel (10–15%) may be required for site assessments, construction support, and regulator meetings. Ability to access treatment systems and comply with PPE and safety protocols is required.

Employee Benefits:

    • Medical, Dental, and Vision Insurance
    • Flexible Spending Accounts
    • 401(K) Plan with Competitive Match
    • Continuing Education and Tuition Assistance
    • Employer-Sponsored Disability Benefits
    • Life Insurance
    • Employee Assistance Program (EAP)
    • Paid Time Off (PTO), Paid Holidays, & Bonus Floating Holiday (if hired before July 1st)
    • Profit Sharing or Individual Bonus Programs
    • Referral Program
    • Per Diem & Paid Travel
    • Employee Discount Hub
