This on-call position is a member of an outstanding nursing and direct care staff and plays a vital role in providing person-centered care and support in a safe environment for up to forty-nine (49) elder residents.

Job Responsibilities

What you will be doing: Provide high quality care to assisted living home residents in the Juneau Pioneer Home in a warm, supportive, and caring manner. This position provides clinical and medication administration to residents and clinical support to the care teams. Focus will be on quality resident care, the growth, development, and empowerment of health care teams, and the promotion of assisted living philosophy and statutes.

Working Environment

This job is located in the Juneau Pioneer Home, an assisted living home at 4675 Glacier Hwy. Juneau, Alaska. The home is nestled near Twin Lakes with breathtaking views of nearby mountains, the Gastineau Channel, and wildlife such as black bears, eagles, ravens, blue herons, kingfishers, porcupines, deer, and squirrels.

Required Skills and Abilities

  • Oral and Written Communication: Expresses information (for example ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral and written presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately.
  • Medicine and Dentistry: Knowledge of the diagnosis and treatment of injuries, diseases, and deformities, including preventive health-care measures.
  • Evidence-Based Practice: Integrates best research practices with clinical and/or subject matter expertise and patient values for optimum care and participates in learning and research activities to the extent feasible
  • Physical Strength and Agility: Ability to bend, lift, climb, stand, and walk for long periods of time; ability to perform moderately heavy laboring work.
  • Accountability: Holds self and others accountable for measurable high quality, timely, and cost-effective results. Determines objectives, sets priorities, and delegates work. Accepts responsibility for own actions and decisions. Complies with established control systems and rules
Additional Job Information

This position is in support of the Pioneer Home, which is a 24-hour facility.

This Pioneer Home is an Eden Alternative facility, where the environment includes contact with plants, flowers, and pets including cats, dogs, fish, and birds.

Employees of the Pioneer Home receive continual or regular screening for tuberculosis, criminal history and for COVID-19 as required by the facility.
