Job description

American Fitness Services (AFS) strives to be at the forefront of the fitness equipment services industry in Phoenix. As a warehouse and assembling associate you will be responsible for the efficient operation of the warehouse and assembling process. This role is responsible for assembling, packaging, and preparing fitness equipment, followed by loading freight, scanning barcodes, and maintaining dock, warehouse, and truck organization. This Warehouse & Assembling Associate is critical to ensure that work orders are completed on time and meet customer expectations. This role is a swing shift, with the workday starting at 12PM and ending at 9 PM.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Participate in the day-to-day operations of the assigned warehouse and assembling team(s).
  • Have a “sense of urgency” to ensure orders are moved through the process as quickly as possible and address any delays with the Delivery & Installation Lead, Warehouse Lead or QA, Facilities & Fleet Maintenance Lead (department leads).
  • Help ensure all warehouse and assembling SOPs (standard operating procedures) are followed and communicate any deficiencies to the department Leads.
  • Follow manuals, schematics, or standard operating procedures (SOPs) to safely piece together components using hand or power tools.
  • Inspect finished products or kits for defects, accurately measure parts, and ensure they meet company specifications before moving forward.
  • Pick, sort, unbox, assemble and label completed units for outgoing delivery/install.
  • Safely transfer fitness equipment onto and off trucks. Stack pallets, wrap loads, and stage freight according to load routes.
  • Safely operate equipment such as pallet jacks, forklifts, or anything more required
  • Ensure all safety procedures are followed.
  • Assist with departmental process documentation as needed.
  • Meet or exceed departmental and company goals and objectives.
  • Exemplifies AFS’s mission and vision statements, along with its core values.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • 1-2 years of warehouse, assembly, or general labor experience in at least one of the following types of organizations: service repair company, third-party logistics, final mile, or fitness / health.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Strong hand-eye coordination
  • Ability to read written/verbal instructions
  • Bilingual (English /Spanish) a plus.

Schedule & Environment

  • Physical Demands: Requires continuous standing, walking, bending, and the ability to lift up to 50 lbs. on a regular basis.
  • This is a contractor (1099), full-time, hourly position that is based in Phoenix, AZ.
  • Swing Shift Schedule: Typical working hours are Monday through Friday 1200 to 2100 (assuming one-hour lunch); adjustments to start / end times will need to be made as the job demands.
