Overview

Provides family centered palliative care to patients and their families who are facing life limiting and/or life threatening illness. Care is provided in the inpatient and outpatient setting.

If you are selected for this position, you will be asked to supply your immunization records as proof of vaccination. If you and have any concerns about receiving these vaccines, medical and/or religious exemptions can be further discussed with Human Resources.

Responsibilities

Clinical: Conducts a comprehensive assessment of patients and their families who are experiencing life-limiting or life-threatening illness, then leading/participating in conversations that implement and discuss palliative care concepts.
• Clinical: Communicates effectively with patients, families, and healthcare professionals.
• Clinical: Promotes palliative care concepts and an interdisciplinary team approach in the provision of palliative care to the patient with serious or life threatening illness and their family.
• Non-clinical: Achieves and maintains expertise in Palliative Care concepts and demonstrates knowledge, skills, and confidence when providing palliative care education to patients, families, healthcare professionals and the community. Participates in ongoing development of individual palliative care staff and the process by which palliative care is delivered at CMH.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree and 3-5 years experience:
  • Pediatric inpatient experience or hospice/palliative care experience.
• One of the following:
  • Registered Nurse Multistate License Missouri
  • Registered Nurse Multistate License Kansas
  • RN Compact license for all states besides KS and MO required upon hire
• Refer to Nursing and Advanced Practice Provider Licensure and Certification policy for required Life Support Certifications Required Upon Hire
• Specialty certification (CHPPN) within two years of hire Required

Starting Pay

Our pay ranges are market competitive. The pay range for this job begins at $35.90/hr, but your offer will be determined based on your education and experience.

Remote Work/Work from Home

This position is not eligible to work remotely, which means that the person hired will be required to work onsite at one of our Children's Mercy locations and may not work from home.
