Job description

Director of Renal Med Surg Unit
Job Summary
The Director is accountable for overseeing patient care within the Renal Med Surg Unit, managing day-to-day departmental operations and productivity, and projecting future development and budgetary needs. This role ensures the unit maintains efficiency, safety, and quality care delivery, focusing on areas such as quality improvement, staff competency, inventory control, cost containment, and patient, staff, and physician satisfaction. Leading by example, the Director upholds Las Palmas Medical Center's goals, policies, and procedures while promoting multidisciplinary coordination of services and maintaining 24-hour coverage and problem resolution.
Key Responsibilities
  • Promote multidisciplinary coordination of services within the unit.
  • Develop, monitor, appraise, and analyze budgetary goals and outcomes, collaborating with the Administrative Director for capital resource planning.
  • Administer and appraise Quality Improvement initiatives within the unit.
  • Manage Human Resources processes, including hiring, evaluating, counseling, and developing staff.
  • Direct and approve professional nursing and support positions, ensuring quality patient care through clinical practice standards.
  • Develop, interpret, inspect, and review policies and procedures within the unit.
  • Develop, institute, review, and implement Disaster Preparedness policies and procedures.
  • Collaborate in marketing the department, including educational program development and external advertising.
  • Provide 24-hour coverage and problem resolution for unit services.
Qualifications
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification.
  • Registered Nurse with Associate Degree, Bachelor's Degree, or Registered Nurse Diploma.
  • Current RN licensure in Texas or compact state.
  • ANCC Orthopedic Nurse Certifications required within three years of hire date.
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) required within one year of hire date.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required within six months of hire date.
  • Must have renal experience.
  • Leadership experience in med surg/renal in an acute care setting.

  • Salary Range: $130,000+
