POSITION SUMMARY The Yurok Tribe Title IV E Program helps to provide safe and stable out-of-home care for children until the children are safely returned home, placed permanently with adoptive families or placed in other planned arrangements for permanency. Under the general supervision of the Title IV E Manager, the Title IV-E Eligibility and Claims Specialist will be responsible for making Title IV-E Program federal eligibility determinations and processing client payment requests. DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES 1.
Determine whether children in foster care meet the federal eligibility requirements for foster care maintenance payments claimed on their behalf. 2. Will oversee the monthly maintenance payments for the daily care and supervision of eligible children.
3. Development and maintenance of necessary systems and procedures to assure implementation of program coordination. 4.
Participates in special studies or research projects as assigned by the Department Director. 5. Prepares written correspondence, reports and other documents related to Tribal Child Welfare Department program activities, mandated federal and state reports.
6. Performs other related duties as assigned. EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: 1.
G7: High school diploma or GED with five years of job specified experience. 2. G8: High school diploma or GED with six years of job specified experience.
3. Employees must be willing to acquire any special certifications or attend any training that is determined to be relevant or become required of the position in the future. 4.
Candidates with equivalent combinations of education, training and experience will be considered. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: 1. Demonstrated strong computer skills with three plus years using Microsoft Office or similar software and including a strong working knowledge of automated database systems such as MS Access or similar database.
2. Ability to understand and implement laws, rules and regulations governing social service programs. 3.
Recognition that in order to serve Yurok People one must know as much as possible about Yurok history, culture and values. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: This position does not have supervisory responsibilities. CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT: 1.
