Job description

AMENDMENT - Closing date has been extended to June 15, 2026. This posting will be used to fill a TERM position until April 30, 2027. The position works 75-hours bi-weekly (flexibility for part-time if desired).

We do this through maintaining internal HR systems, policies and collective agreements and providing human resources advice and support to departments and employees. The opportunity... The Elder in Residence is responsible for promoting a decolonized work environment with a strong focus on reconciliation and Yukon First Nations topics, cultural safety, anti-racism, anti-oppression and trauma-informed approaches to public service across the Yukon government

This position provides advice and culturally based assistance to all employees assisting to build trust, support, and intercultural capacity and competencies. Why choose us. Essential Qualifications: A Yukon First Nation citizen, recognized and accepted as an Elder or Knowledge Keeper, with extensive experience providing guidance and support

Preferred at all levels of government, including Yukon First Nation governments and/or the Government of Yukon. Experience with Yukon First Nation Final Agreements, including implementation, government to government collaboration, consultation, and partnership, through various committees and working groups. Experience working within policy and legislative frameworks, providing support and guidance through the application of Yukon First Nations knowledge, culture, history, and traditions, that support the principles of truth and reconciliation.

Preferred within a government context (Yukon First Nation government or the Government of Yukon). Candidates who have education, training, and/or experience equivalent to the essential qualifications listed above may be equally considered. Desired Knowledge, Skills and Suitability To best support the achievement of key strategic and business objectives, candidates should have and may be assessed on: Demonstrated Yukon First Nations Traditional Knowledge and other Indigenous ways of knowing, doing and being Demonstrated connections to Yukon First Nations communities Ability to navigate Indigenous and non-Indigenous ways, e.g., Two-Eyed Seeing) Ability to support and maintain government to government relationships Ability to build and maintain relationships with Elders from Yukon First Nation communities Demonstrated Client Service Additional information Job requirements: This position is located in Whitehorse, Yukon, and requires you to work in the office
