The Risk Management Specialist will oversee the organization’s comprehensive insurance and risk management program, assessing and identifying risks that could impede the organization's reputation, safety, security, or financial success. This role will also have a heavy emphasis on workers compensation claims.

Ideal candidates will have experience in customer relations, project management, accident response management, claims intakes and adjustments, and employee relations. This role is in-office in Norfolk, VA.

Essential Functions: 

• Provides risk consulting in multiple business areas and guides to implementing solutions.
• Analyzes data, influences others to identify risks and trends, and proactively provides oversight and guidance during risk assessments, incidents, and audits.
• Supports collaborative environments between other risk team members and various partner groups to create an integrated and seamless risk experience for the organization.
• Executes challenge activities to elevate areas of suspected risk and to gain assurance that risk-taking groups are appropriately representing their departments.
• Ensures challenges are adequately documented and are audit-defensible.
• Consults on Issue/Event analysis to observe trends and insights on changes to business departments.
• Balances multiple priorities to help drive business value and support team objectives while managing tasks and activities related to risk management initiatives.

• Knowledge of the changing regulatory environment and understanding the impact it may have on the business.
• Knowledge of functional reviews, root cause analysis, and operational risk analysis.
• Knowledge of risk solutions and their alignment with business initiatives.
• Skill in problem-solving and analysis with attention to detail.
• Skill in concisely communicating complex topics to leadership.
• Ability to communicate effectively, collaboratively, and problem-solve effectively with employees across various levels of the organization.
• Ability to foster a culture of collaboration.
• Ability to prioritize well and communicate in both written and verbal forms.
• Ability to coordinate risk management/safety efforts throughout various departments.

This position requires employee to be able to pass a background check and drug screen as required for this job.
