Job description

TITLE: WorkSource Specialist/Care Manager IPOSITION STATUS: Full-Time/Non- Exempt

As a WorkSource Care Manager at ACE, you'll be a trusted guide for participants working to overcome barriers to employment, coordinating everything from intake and eligibility assessments to service plans, job readiness workshops, and supportive service funding. You'll build relationships with participants, employers, and community partners to create real pathways to stable work and long-term economic security. This role suits someone compassionate and resourceful, comfortable managing detailed casework and deadlines while staying flexible and creative in the face of each participant's unique challenges. The ideal candidate brings strong interpersonal skills, cultural sensitivity, and genuine motivation to help people build stability through employment.

WorkSource Program:
ACE’s WorkSource program serves as a gateway to employment for individuals facing systemic barriers to work. Through workforce preparation, individualized career coaching, and employer partnerships, WorkSource supports participants in developing the skills, confidence, and resources needed to access sustainable employment. Grounded in ACE’s commitment to equity and empowerment, the program helps participants build pathways to economic stability and long-term career success.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Conduct outreach and support recruitment strategies, including outreach to referrals who fail to attend appointments.
  • Conduct intake, eligibility determinations, and participant assessments.
  • Complete, update, and ensure completion of service plans according to contract deadlines.
  • Meet with participants to identify barriers to employment and develop strategies to manage these issues, including appropriate referrals.
  • Maintain complete, accurate and timely case notes and related records in manual and electronic systems.
  • Support participants in securing employment and post-secondary education placements; track placements and develop solutions to maintain stability.
  • Work with participants to process supportive service funding, track purchases, and document receipts.
  • Provide basic financial coaching during programming and post-employment.
  • Provide one-on-one assistance and/or facilitate skills-based workshops on job readiness (resume building, mock interviews, communication skills, career pathways).
  • Coordinate and attend service and team meetings, facilitating wrap-around services with other providers.
  • Coordination of introductory workshops.
  • Work collaboratively with the business services team to identify which jobs are available, what qualifications are needed, and which workshops and training can best prepare jobseekers for these positions.
  • Assist and collaborate with WorkSource program leadership in developing and maintaining employer and resource networks; maintain and distribute updated local job listings.
  • Assist with writing program reports, participant success stories, and other content as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
  • Knowledge of workforce development approaches, resources, best practices, and tools.
  • Knowledge of high-growth industries and established contacts with employers.
  • Professional understanding of a vast array of occupations and career paths.
  • Strong interpersonal skills; fosters a safe, inclusive work environment; communicates effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Sensitivity to the community, culture, and personal dignity of program participants; ability to engage, assess, and plan services effectively.
  • Knowledge of accurate record-keeping standards, including timely charting, proper notation, and confidentiality practices.
  • General proficiency in navigating and using technology.
  • Operates as a reliable, flexible team player with minimal supervision; demonstrates creativity, initiative, adaptability, accountability, and openness to feedback.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Prolonged periods standing and walking throughout facilities.
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
  • Must be able to bend, lift, stretch, climb, and crawl to provide services.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • AA or higher degree in relevant field and 1 years of experience in career advisement and development, case management, customer service, or similar role assisting individuals; or
  • Equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • Spanish, Farsi, Armenian, or Russian language skills, verbal and written preferred.
  • Possess a current California Driver’s License, clean DMV record & adequate auto insurance on a reliable vehicle available to use for work purposes.
  • Must submit to a Department of Justice Criminal background check.
  • Initial TB employment clearance required.
  • Evening and weekend work is required as needed to support the program.

  • Health, Vision, and Dental Insurance at no cost to you (starting after 60-90 days, dependent on start date- effective date is the next 1st of the month post 60 days of employment).

  • Vacation Leave Accrual: Employees accrue vacation based on length of service at ACE. 
    • First 2 years, employees accrue approximately 10 days (80 hours) annually.
    • 2-4 years, accrual increases to approximately 15 days (120 hours) annually.
    • At 5+ years, employees accrue approximately 20 days (160 hours) annually. 
  • Up to 6 sick days a year (eligible to use after 60 days).
  • 15 paid holidays (selected by ACE).

The anticipated pay range for candidates who will work in California is $28.85 to $31.25 hourly. The offered pay to a successful candidate will be dependent on several factors that may include but are not limited to years of experience within the job, years of experience within the required industry, education, etc.
