The Manager-Sterile Processing is responsible for the direction and overall supervision of the OR/OB Processing Department as it relates to operating budget, daily operations, staffing and regulatory responsibilities.
Responsibilities
Assist with development and manage the operating budget.
Responsible for appropriate level staffing. Including hiring decisions, staffing patterns and daily assignment oversight.
Supervise the selection, development, appraisal and discipline of reporting personnel.
Ensure that job requirements and goals for each position are clear to employees.
Ensure that orientation and in-service training and continuing education are provided to personnel. Provide education to personnel, patients for family through structured presentation and unstructured interactions while performing tests or resolving technical questions.
Make job requirements and goals for each position clear to employees and provided sufficient training to achieve the desired level of competency, document evident of competence on a continuing basis.
Develop and revise policies and procedures to ensure that proper detailed procedures are available for staff to follow.
Develop policies and procedures that ensure an effective and efficient operation within the department while supplying sufficient support to the Operating Room and other hospital areas.
Recommend approaches for improvement activities, recommend and perform new processes, collect and measure data, develop processes based on performance and communicate results.
Ensure compliance with regulatory standards including AORN, AAMI, IAHCSMM and JCAHO.
Responsible for providing and managing the appropriate customer service to both internal and external customers.
Provide employee feedback with regard to production, customer service, performance evaluations and corrective action.
Conduct departmental meetings, routine or as needed.
Responsible for the appropriate communication with Perioperative Services Administration and Medical Staff.
Assist with the implementation and operation of information systems utilized within OR/OB Processing Department.
Support the materials management function as it pertains to notification of stock-outs, low PAR levels, new requests and inventory locations.
Assist Perioperative Black Belt with projects and by allocating resources for project tasks.
Qualifications
Required: High School/GED. Preferred Bachelor's Degree. | Required: C.R.C.S.T. Certification. | Required Minimum Experience: Five (5) to Seven (7) years of progressive Management/ leadership experience, with a minimum of four (4) years of direct management experience with concentration in High Level Disinfection (HLD) required. Preferably at a supervisor and or manager level.
