Pharmacy Director

Location: Boone, North Carolina | Full-Time | Leadership Role

What You'll Do as a Pharmacy Director
  • Provide strategic and operational leadership for the WMC Pharmacy department
  • Oversee daily pharmacy operations, ensuring efficiency, quality, and regulatory compliance
  • Lead and develop pharmacy staff, fostering a positive and high-performing work environment
  • Partner with pharmacy and system leadership to achieve financial targets and key performance metrics
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and lead initiatives to enhance service delivery
  • Support human resource functions including staffing, performance management, and team development
  • Collaborate with physicians, nursing, and interdisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes
  • Promote adherence to UNC Health Appalachian policies, procedures, and standards of behavior
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Pharmacy required
  • PharmD preferred

Experience:

  • Minimum of 5 years of pharmacy experience required
  • Prior leadership experience within a pharmacy department required (hospital setting preferred)

Licenses/Certifications:

  • Active Pharmacist license in the State of North Carolina required

  • Comprehensive knowledge of pharmacy operations and leadership practices
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills across all levels of the organization
  • Ability to lead teams, manage change, and drive performance outcomes
  • Knowledge of the continuum of care and patient-centered service delivery

  • Demonstrated ability to foster a collaborative and accountable work environment
Physical & Work Environment
  • Occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling ≥ 30 lbs
  • Prolonged sitting, standing, and walking throughout the workday
  • Frequent bending, squatting, kneeling, twisting, and reaching
  • Continuous hand, finger, and wrist dexterity
  • Exposure to healthcare environment hazards including chemicals and equipment
  • Irregular hours may be required, including evenings, weekends, and emergencies
