About the Role

 

The Fishing and Adventure Guide delivers world-class guidedfishing and outdoor experiences, representing Nootka Marine Adventures' visionof "Teaching the World to Fish." The role involves guest service, safe vesseloperation, guided fishing instruction, fish handling, and maintaining highstandards of safety, professionalism, and vessel readiness. 

Key Responsibilities

       Warmly welcome guests, assist boarding,handle gear, and provide fishing instruction.

       Safely operate vessels and transportguests to and from fishing grounds (up to 10 hrs/day).

       Adhere to DFO regulations, completelogbooks, bleed and label fish, and deliver to processing.

       Educate guests on fishing techniques(jigging, trolling, anchored fishing).

       Maintain vessel safety, conduct TransportCanada approved safety orientations.

       Monitor weather and marine conditions,maintain situational awareness.

       Clean and maintain vessels daily andweekly; complete equipment checks and minor repairs.

       Provide guest feedback to management andpromote company programs/merchandise.

       Collaborate with the guide team onfishing conditions, locations, and operations.

       Assist with guest logistics (luggage,lunches) as needed and help vessels in emergencies when safe.

 

Qualifications

 

Required

       Legally entitled to work in Canada

       High school diploma or equivalent

       Minimum 2 years professional guidedfishing experience

       SVOP (Small Vessel OperatorProficiency)

       MED A-3 (Marine Emergency Duties) or SDVBS (SmallDomestic Vessel Basic Safety)

       ROC-M (Restricted Radio Operators Certificate -Marine) with DSC

       Current MBFA (Marine Basic First Aid) or equivalent

       Driver's license and driver's abstract

       WHMIS certification

       Tidal Waters Sportfishing License &Salmon Conservation Stamp

       Small vessel operation experience(close-quarters handling, anchoring, maintenance, cleaning)

Preferred

       Experience with saltwater fishing in theNootka Sound region
