Job description

Registered Nurse (RN)

Unit type includes a mix of long-term and skilled residents. The facility accommodates 30 residents per unit, with a total of 60 on the floor. Private rooms available for residents. Electronic medical record system used is Point Click Care. The staffing ratio is 1 RN to 15 LPNs and 1 CNA to 10 residents. Common diagnoses include inability to care for self, sepsis, femur fractures, NSTEMI, chronic kidney failure, congestive heart failure, and urinary tract infections. Residents may include long-term individuals and others gaining strength to return home. Job duties include passing medications, wound care, catheter care, PEG tube feedings, and ostomy care. RNs will manage IVs, PICC lines, mediports, and related care. No telemetry monitors are present, and RNs are not required to read strips. Physician availability is 24/7 for consultations. An interdisciplinary team is available, including physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, social services, case managers, and dieticians. Pharmacists are on-site, and medications are sourced from a hospital facility nearby. Shifts are predetermined by facility needs, and there is no self-scheduling or guaranteed blocked schedules. RN dress code is navy blue scrubs. The facility employs enhanced droplet precautions for COVID-19, with no separate COVID unit. N95 masks are utilized, but a COVID vaccine is not required.
