Job description

Speech Teacher

The West Seneca Central School District is currently seeking a substitute for a Speech Teacher at the elementary school level. This will be a full-time, temporary appointment beginning immediately through a date to be determined, for an individual who holds certification in the Speech tenure area. This position could extend to a long-term substitute appointment with salary and benefits paid according to the West Seneca Teacher's Association's collective bargaining agreement, commensurate and prorated to the appointment time frame.

Roles:

  • Speech teacher working across all levels - K through 5, ensuring educational relevance in general education and special education classrooms
  • Providing Speech Language therapy in individual and group settings
  • Providing Speech Language evaluation to students
  • Serving a wide range of disorders (speech sound disorders, language, fluency)
  • Highlighting language/literacy and culturally competent services

Range of responsibilities:

  • Prevention, assessment, intervention
  • Data collection
  • Compliance - appropriate teaching certificate and NYS license (or ASHA CCC) for Medicaid billing
  • Ability to work with families, students and collaborate with teachers and administration
  • Previous completion of Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY) preferred
