About This Role

The Assistant Center Director / Sr. Lead Teacher serves in a key leadership and classroom role within the center. This position plays a vital part in supporting the center's daily operations, while also functioning as a lead teacher in the classroom when not actively performing administrative or director-level responsibilities.

This role is a salaried exempt management position that requires the ability to exercise independent judgment, leadership, and supervisory responsibilities consistent with applicable labor regulations.


What You'll Do

Essential Responsibilities

Supervise and assist in overseeing daily center operations

Maintain compliance with all Georgia DECAL licensing requirements to ensure a safe and healthy environment

Support staff scheduling, classroom coverage, and onboarding processes

Coach and guide staff to ensure high-quality childcare services

Assist with training of new employees and ensure a smooth transition into the workforce

Ensure classrooms remain ratio compliant at all times to provide optimal care for children

Address parent concerns professionally and in a timely manner to maintain a positive relationship

Support the center's safety, cleanliness, and emergency preparedness protocols

Maintain professionalism, confidentiality, and a positive workplace culture

Assist with documentation, incident reports, attendance records, and child files to ensure accurate and up-to-date information

Monitor classroom quality and teacher performance to identify areas for improvement

Take on the Center Director role when delegated or when the Director is absent to ensure continuity of operations

Daily Responsibilities as Sr. Lead Teacher

Lead and manage an assigned classroom to create a engaging and learning-rich environment

Implement lesson plans and age-appropriate curriculum to meet the needs of diverse learners

Provide active supervision of children at all times to ensure their safety and well-being

Foster a positive classroom management and engagement approach to promote social and emotional growth

Design and implement classroom activities that support learning and development

Ensure the classroom is clean, organized, and ready for children to learn and play

Complete daily child reports and classroom documentation to track progress and identify areas for improvement

Communicate effectively with parents regarding children's progress and daily activities to build a strong partnership

Support potty training, meal supervision, transitions, and nap routines as applicable to promote healthy habits

Maintain compliance with all health and safety procedures to create a safe and healthy environment

Model professionalism and strong teaching practices for other staff members to promote a culture of excellence

Assist assistant teachers and floaters with classroom guidance and structure to ensure a smooth and effective learning environment


Requirements

Minimum Qualifications

Associate Degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field

Minimum 3 years of experience in a licensed childcare setting

Minimum 3 years of supervisory or leadership experience in a childcare environment

Strong communication, organizational, and multitasking skills

Ability to lead in a fast-paced environment and exercise independent judgment


Nice To Haves

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field

Knowledge of Georgia DECAL licensing standards and compliance requirements

Leadership experience in classroom management, staff development, and quality improvement

Completion of Georgia DECAL approved 40-Hour Director Training is a plus
