Job description

The Credentialing Specialist acts as a liaison between Wapiti client/affiliated medical staff offices, credentialing verification offices, insurance company/agents, and Wapiti practitioners. This position is responsible for performing all functions needed to gather credentials for practitioners with Wapiti client sites as well as assist in practitioner provider enrollment, licensing, and credentialing for region sites as assigned.
This is a full-time non-exempt position Monday-Friday with some periodic after-hours work and call rotation.
RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Manage the full credentialing process for practitioners, including initial credentialing and reappointments
  • Collect, verify, and maintain practitioner documentation, files, and credentialing records
  • Prepare, send, and submit medical staff, provider enrollment, licensure, insurance, and malpractice applications
  • Coordinate with hospital medical staff offices, business offices, and internal teams to ensure timely approvals
  • Track credentialing progress, follow up with practitioners, and meet onboarding and first‑shift deadlines
  • Maintain accurate credentialing data and ensure certifications and licenses remain current
  • Identify and report credentialing risks, issues, or delays to management
  • Support daily operations by following SOPs, assisting with process improvements, cross‑training team members, and providing backup coverage as needed

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Experience in Microsoft Office
  • 3+ years' experience in credentialing/healthcare administrative work preferred
  • Experience working for a locums staffing company preferred
  • College degree preferred
