Job description

Do you have an extensive knowledge of Environmental Health rules andregulations, and are you looking for a career with excellent benefits? If so,the Food, Lodging, and Institution Section of Wake County Environmental Health& Safety Division would like to meet you!
This is an opportunity to combine customer service skills, science knowledge,and a love of public health to serve the citizens and visitors of Wake County.You will be able to use your skillset to ensure that restaurants and otherestablishments meet sanitation/safety standards using education, conflictresolution, and enforcement strategies. Education of external and internalstakeholders during inspections and consultative visits will be a highly valuedcomponent of your work.
Primary duties include:

  • Performs inspections of food, lodging, and institutional facilities required by state rules and regulations
  • Conducts foodborne and communicable disease outbreak investigations
  • May inspect swimming pools and tattoo facilities
  • Performs emergency response and complaint investigations
  • Educates the general public concerning environmental and public health issues

**Work Hours: Monday - Friday 8:30am to 5:15pm, some nights,weekends, holidays**
