Fund Accounting Manager

A specialist financial services organisation is seeking a Fund Accounting Manager to lead the delivery of accounting and reporting services for a portfolio of private equity funds.

This is a hands-on leadership opportunity combining technical fund accounting, team management and direct client responsibility. You will oversee the work of Fund Accountants and Senior Fund Accountants, ensuring accurate and timely delivery while acting as a key point of contact for clients.

The position would suit an experienced private equity fund accountant ready to take greater ownership of people, client relationships and complex fund structures.

Key responsibilities

• Lead, coach and develop a team of Fund Accountants and Senior Fund Accountants
• Oversee periodic NAV calculations, general ledgers and trial balances for private equity funds
• Review financial statements, investor reporting and partner allocations
• Review capital calls, distributions and other fund-level transactions
• Oversee the calculation of management fees, fund expenses and carried interest
• Review accounting work and client deliverables for accuracy and completeness
• Act as a primary contact for clients, resolving accounting and reporting queries
• Coordinate external audits from initial planning through to completion
• Interpret partnership agreements, private placement memoranda and other fund documentation
• Support the onboarding and conversion of new funds and client relationships
• Conduct performance reviews and identify training and development needs across the team
• Work with internal specialists across investor services, tax and financial reporting

What we’re looking for

• Approximately five or more years of relevant accounting experience, including strong exposure to private equity fund accounting
• Previous experience reviewing the work of others and leading, supervising or developing accounting professionals
• Strong understanding of private equity fund structures and accounting processes
• Experience preparing or reviewing general ledgers, NAVs and financial statements
• Knowledge of US GAAP and other relevant accounting frameworks
• Confidence managing client relationships and communicating with senior stakeholders
• Experience interpreting partnership agreements and applying them to fund accounting
• A degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics or a related subject, or a relevant professional qualification
• Experience with a recognised private equity fund-accounting platform would be advantageous
