Job Summary
WINTrio LLC is seeking an experienced Data Architect to support the design, review, optimization, and evolution of a federal agency's enterprise data environment. This role defines data standards and models, advises on Medallion Lakehouse architecture, and supports modernization efforts across the organization's AWS based data platform.
Key Responsibilities
  • Define data standards and models for the enterprise data environment.
  • Advise on Medallion (Bronze, Silver, Gold) Lakehouse architecture.
  • Review pipeline designs for alignment with enterprise data standards and governance expectations.
  • Oversee metadata and lineage integration across the data platform.
  • Support modernization efforts, including OpenMetadata integration, RDS evaluation, and observability frameworks.
  • Maintain updated data architecture diagrams and documentation as pipelines and modernization efforts evolve.
  • Develop to be and transition plans for architecture changes as directed.
  • Ensure recommended patterns reflect best practices for AWS based Medallion/Lakehouse designs, interoperability, and modernization goals.
Required Qualifications
  • Experience designing and maintaining AWS based data pipelines and Medallion/Lakehouse architectures.
  • Experience with metadata and lineage tooling, including cataloging frameworks such as OpenMetadata.
  • Experience evaluating and recommending managed data stores, such as AWS RDS.
  • Experience producing architecture documentation, including diagrams, transition plans, and data flow descriptions.
  • Familiarity with federal security, privacy, and auditability requirements as they apply to data architecture.
  • Experience working in a federal or regulated environment with stakeholders, CORs, and structured deliverables.
  • Must be eligible for a Moderate Risk (MBI) background investigation.
Technical Skills & Tools
  • Data Architecture: Medallion/Lakehouse design, data standards and modeling
  • AWS Cloud Services: RDS, Glue, S3, and related data services
  • Metadata & Lineage: OpenMetadata or comparable cataloging and lineage tools
  • Observability Frameworks for pipeline and data platform monitoring
  • Documentation: architecture diagrams, transition plans, data flow documentation
  • Recommended Certifications (not mandatory): AWS Certified Solutions Architect (Associate or Professional)
Work Environment
  • Full time or part time position, based on contract activation.
  • Remote eligible; contractor services may be performed remotely per the contract's terms.
  • Standard business hours Monday through Friday.
  • No travel required.
