Job Summary 

Wise Care Counts, LLC (WCC) is seeking a detail-oriented and compassionate Paralegal Specialist to support a federal public safety benefits program assisting survivors, injured officers, and public safety agencies nationwide. 

This role supports legal and administrative case management activities involving federal death, disability, and educational assistance claims. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills with experience reviewing legal and/or medical documentation, supporting claims or case management workflows, and interacting professionally with individuals experiencing traumatic or sensitive circumstances. 
This is a fast-paced environment requiring exceptional attention to detail, sound judgment, professionalism, and the ability to manage high-volume workloads while meeting strict timelines. 

Position Details 

• Full-time or part-time depending on experience and program needs 
• Remote with occasional on-site meetings in Washington, DC  
• Federal contractor support role 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities 

• Review and analyze claims documentation, supporting evidence, medical records, and legal materials 
• Identify missing documentation, discrepancies, and potential factual or legal issues within claims files 
• Support appeals tracking and administrative case processing 
• Maintain accurate case records within electronic case management systems 
• Draft, review, and edit professional correspondence and case-related documentation 
• Track case status, deadlines, and program metrics using Excel and other systems 
• Coordinate with program leadership, attorneys, specialists, and government personnel 
• Maintain confidentiality of sensitive personally identifiable information (PII) 
• Provide compassionate and professional customer support to applicants, survivors, agencies, and stakeholders 

 Competencies 

• Federal contracting experience 

• Experience supporting DOJ, law enforcement, healthcare, workers’ compensation, disability, or  

    insurance-related programs 

• Appeals or administrative hearing support experience 

• Medical records review experience 

• Experience with CRM or electronic case management systems 

• • Spanish language proficiency is a plus 

 Education and Experience 

  • Bachelor’s degree or Paralegal Certificate 
  • Minimum 3 years of paralegal, legal support, claims, or case management experience 
  • Experience reviewing legal, medical, or claims documentation 
  • Strong Microsoft Office proficiency, particularly Excel 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills 
  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines and high-volume workloads 
  •  Ability to successfully pass a DOJ Moderate Risk/Public Trust background investigation
