Job description

Shape the flow of business with Vortex Doors

At Vortex Doors, we keep facilities moving. As a Senior Commercial and Industrial Door Service Specialist, you’ll spend your days solving mechanical puzzles, restoring safety, and elevating customer trust across a wide range of doors, docks, and access systems. You bring 3+ years of industry experience and a passion for precision; we provide the variety, support, and training to keep you growing.

A day in the field

You pick up your Vortex-provided service vehicle, review digital work orders, and head to your first stop—a warehouse dock with a sectional door out of alignment. You diagnose the issue, replace hardware, verify code compliance, and document the repair. Midday, you’re configuring closers and low-voltage access controls at a retail storefront. In the afternoon, you advise a property manager on cost-effective options for broken springs and worn hinges, wrap up with a thorough quality check, and finalize your notes. Tomorrow might bring automatic doors, hollow metal frames, or storefront glazing—no two days are the same.

What you’ll handle
  • Install, service, and troubleshoot a wide range of commercial doors, dock equipment, and related hardware using the right tools and methods.
  • Track down root causes for issues like failed springs, hinges, locks, and electrical components; training available if you want to add welding to your toolkit.
  • Set up locks, handles, closers, low-voltage, and access control devices with accuracy.
  • Verify that every installation meets applicable safety requirements and building codes.
  • Deliver outstanding customer service—explain findings, outline options, and recommend cost-effective solutions.
  • Maintain precise records of visits, repairs, installations, and required reports.
  • Perform final quality checks to ensure work meets Vortex’s unsurpassed standards.
Why Vortex
  • Hiring Bonus up to $5,000 with commercial or industrial door experience required.
  • Industry-best training in our state-of-the-art facility: commercial and retail door openings, hardware, storefront glazing, and automatic doors.
  • Clear pathways for advancement with multiple career levels.
  • Ongoing learning on manual doors and dock equipment for industrial applications, plus opportunities for industry certifications.
  • Hands-on training for hollow metal doors, frames, and hardware.
  • Strong safety culture, positive work environment, and recognition programs.
  • Competitive pay, health benefits, 401(k) match, eight paid holidays, and vacation/sick program.
  • Company-provided uniform, tools, and an annual boot allowance.
  • Company vehicle for customer service calls.
What you bring
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 3+ years of commercial door service experience with knowledge of door types, brands, and hardware.
  • Skilled with hand and power tools; able to read a tape measure accurately and perform fraction-based math.
  • Working understanding of safety regulations and consistent adherence to safety protocols.
  • Mechanical and technical aptitude; computer literacy for service documentation.
  • Physically capable of lifting 50+ lbs, climbing ladders up to 20’, kneeling for extended periods, and operating power tools for sustained tasks.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills; persuasive when guiding customers to the right solution.
  • Resourceful problem solver who thrives in a fast-paced, results-oriented environment.
  • Reliable and self-motivated with sharp attention to detail and quality craftsmanship.
Work conditions
  • Full-time scheduling within 7:00 AM – 5:30 PM, Monday–Friday; some overtime and on-call work as needed.
  • Continuous training as your career grows with Vortex.
  • Fast-paced, results-driven atmosphere.
  • Valid driver license and ability to operate a company vehicle.
  • Must pass Drug test, Background check and Motor Vehicle check

Vortex Doors is America’s most customer-centric commercial and industrial door repair company—and we’d love to have you on the team.
