Job description

Optician

Candidates must be licensed and/or certified in accordance with applicable state law requirements (ABO certification accepted in non-licensing states).

About the Role

We're looking for a talented Optician, who is passionate about helping people see and deliver extraordinary care and service. From seasoned eyewear enthusiasts to those trying on their first pair of glasses, you'll guide every patient through an experience that leaves them feeling informed, confident, and well cared for. You'll work alongside a supportive, driven group of colleagues while building your expertise through ongoing professional development and a strong benefits package.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Review physician prescriptions and orders based on medical charts

  • Take and record measurements; adjust and fit eyewear with flawless accuracy

  • Educate patients on corrective lens options and help them choose frames and lenses based on prescription needs, face fit, personal style, and lifestyle

  • Provide honest but compassionate feedback on aesthetic frame choices

  • Explain prescription terminology and product offerings clearly to patients

  • Check that finished eyewear meets optical standards and customer requirements

  • Perform adjustments and repairs of eyewear

  • Place optical orders with a general understanding of insurance benefits

  • Communicate with physicians regarding questions or concerns about prescriptions

  • Manage inventory of frames and contact lenses to ensure product variety and customer satisfaction

  • Achieve sales goals while attending to each patient's specific needs

  • Collaborate with your team to develop and share best practices for sales and patient care

  • Represent our brand and help educate others about our values and mission

Who You Are

  • Licensed dispensing optician in states that require licensure, or ABO-certified in non-licensing states

  • Passionate about eyewear and delivering exceptional patient care

  • A clear, professional communicator who can break down technical terms for patients

  • Detail-oriented and capable of juggling a wide range of responsibilities

  • Flexible, adaptable, and able to thrive in a fast-paced environment

  • Coachable — open to feedback and continual improvement

  • A team player who takes their work seriously, but not themselves

  • 0–3 years of experience preferred; optical experience a plus, but we will train the right person

  • Not on the Office of Inspector General's List of Excluded Individuals/Entities (LEIE)

Compensation & Benefits

We offer a competitive base salary with variable compensation for eligible employees. Final compensation is determined by qualifications, experience, and relevant market data.
