Job description

Patient Companion Virtual Care- Nights - Sitters Department

Work location: This is an in-person position at 8200 Walnut Hill Ln., Dallas, TX
Work hours: Part Time Days, 24 hours a week. 2 shifts per week 6:45 am - 7:15pm

Here's What You Need

  • H.S. Diploma or Equivalent is required
  • 1 Year Experience in an patient care setting/role such as Nurse Aide's, Patient Care Tech, Monitor Tech, or other nursing support role. is required
  • Acute care experience is preferred
  • Basic computer skills, data entry required.
  • Job requires sitting for prolonged periods. 
  • Proficient communication. 
  • Use of hands, vision-color, hearing, speaking. 
  • Attention to detail.
  • Organization and prioritization skills.
  • Manages stress appropriately.
  • Makes decisions under pressure.
  • Manages anger/fear/hostility/violence of others appropriately.
  • Handles multiple priorities.
  • Works independently.
  • Work in confined/crowded areas.

What You Will Do

  • Utiizes the technology required for virtual patient observation and interventions for safe patient care.
  • Demonstrates competency in the set-up and ongoing use of virtual patient observation monitoring software, computer hardware, and 

    communication devices.

  • Collaborates with hospital unit nursing staff to set up camera to optimize patient visibility and conduct positive patient identification. Assures alarms are activated with appropriate settings and are sufficiently audible.
  • Maintains continuous visual observation of multiple patients at one time on a monitor; assures a co-worker is monitoring assigned patients during breaks or other temporary situations when unable to maintain continuous observation (e.g., when engaged in two-way video call)
  • Redirects patients promptly to maintain patient safety.
