Job Summary and Responsibilities

As an ED Nurse at Virginia Mason Franciscan Health, every moment counts. You often find yourself working against the clock to save a life. You have the proven ability to assess traumatic situations quickly and calmly where you apply sound judgment and act quickly under pressure. Everyday, you will begin each shift by taking report from a nursing teammate before making your rounds. You’ll provide continued care and perform procedures as detailed in the care plan.

To be successful in this role, you’ll depend on your ability to evaluate and prioritize patients quickly based on their medical necessity. As the experts on the front line of patient care, our nurses provide input and insight in creating change, improving the process, and reshaping the way our patient care is delivered.

About Us:

Virginia Mason Franciscan Health is a 336-bed non-profit teaching facility providing quality health care to patients and communities in and around Seattle Washington.  We are part of CommonSpirit Health which operates 137 hospitals and more than 1,000 care sites across 21 states making our services accessible to nearly 1 in 4 U.S. residents. 

Our Emergency Department is designated and certified as a Primary Stroke Center. Along with our outstanding cardiac care services, our patients have shorter wait times than both the national average and WA State average (according to "medicare data.  We have 22 ED beds and see an average of 80 patients per day. 

Responsibilities include:

  • Quickly assess and prioritize care based on trauma for all patient populations
  • Stabilize patients needing emergency care
  • Work with an experienced, supportive team of emergency professionals including emergency physicians, other emergency-trained nurses, licensed radiologists, and certified laboratory technologists
  • Demonstrate a passion for excellence in emergency medicine

Job Requirements

Required

  • Current WA State RN license is required.
  • Recent RN experience with acute care patients.
  • CPR certification is required every two years or as specified by the work.
  • Other certifications may be required for specialty areas.
  • Graduation from an accredited school of nursing approved by the Washington State Board of Nursing.
  • Please be advised that this location requires quarterly American Heart Association (AHA) Resuscitation Quality Improvement (RQI) competency certification post-hire. This ongoing competency is required through resources internal to the facility; outside RQI competency resources are not acceptable for CommonSpirit Health compliance requirements
