Kafka Platform EngineerJob Summary

We are looking for a strong Kafka Platform Engineer who has deep hands-on experience designing, building, managing, and optimizing Kafka platforms at scale. The ideal candidate should have strong expertise in Kafka broker architecture, cluster management, performance tuning, replication, and Confluent ecosystem components.

This role is focused on Kafka platform ownership and infrastructure engineering, not just application integration or producer/consumer development.

Required Skills

• Strong hands-on experience with Apache Kafka and Confluent Platform

• Experience designing and managing large Kafka clusters

• Deep understanding of Kafka broker architecture and internals

• Experience with partitioning, replication, ISR, retention, and log compaction

• Kafka performance tuning and troubleshooting experience

• Experience with Kafka Connect, Schema Registry, MirrorMaker, and KRaft/ZooKeeper

• Strong understanding of distributed systems and event streaming platforms

• Experience with monitoring, scaling, capacity planning, and disaster recovery

• Experience with Linux, scripting, and automation

• Knowledge of Kubernetes/Cloud Kafka deployments is preferred

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and manage Kafka platform infrastructure

• Configure and optimize Kafka brokers and clusters

• Handle performance tuning, scaling, and troubleshooting

• Manage replication, partition strategy, and broker balancing

• Implement monitoring, alerting, and platform reliability improvements

• Support high-throughput and mission-critical streaming environments

• Work with infrastructure and application teams for platform integration

• Ensure security, availability, and disaster recovery readiness

Preferred Experience

• • Confluent Platform or Confluent Cloud

  • Multi-region Kafka deployments

  • Kafka on Kubernetes/Strimzi

  • Infrastructure as Code and automation tools

  • Experience supporting large-scale enterprise Kafka environments
