Senior Electrical Engineer
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Electrical Engineer to lead the design and execution of complex electrical engineering projects across multiple industries, including power generation, industrial facilities, process plants, healthcare, aviation, manufacturing, government, and defense.
The Senior Electrical Engineer will oversee all phases of project development, from conceptual design through construction support, ensuring technical accuracy, code compliance, and alignment with client objectives and budget requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Lead electrical engineering design teams on major new construction, renovation, and redevelopment projects.
Execute power system analysis, including load flow, short circuit, relay coordination, arc flash, and grounding studies.
Perform protective relay coordination and develop protection settings for transmission and distribution systems up to 500 kV.
Prepare design basis documentation, electrical system models, and native relay configuration files using tools such as SEL AcSELerator and GE Enervista.
Review and verify single-line diagrams, three-line diagrams, schematics, and control logic drawings.
Ensure design quality and compliance with IEEE, ANSI, NESC, and NFPA standards.
Collaborate with project managers to define project scope, technical deliverables, and design schedules.
Mentor and train junior engineers and design staff, promoting knowledge sharing and best practices.
Support construction, testing, and commissioning activities for substation and industrial power projects.
Assist with business development, including proposal preparation and client presentations.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
Minimum of 7 years of experience in power system studies or electrical system design within the electric utility or industrial power distribution industry.
Ability to obtain a Professional Engineer (P.E.) license.
Preferred Qualifications and Skills
Demonstrated experience with protective relay settings, relay coordination, and substation protection schemes.
Proficiency in system modeling software such as ASPEN, CAPE, CYME, ETAP, or SKM Power Tools.
Knowledge of relay protection philosophies, transmission line protection, and distribution automation systems.
Experience developing relay setting files, logic diagrams, and configuration files using SEL AcSELerator and GE Enervista.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail in calculations such as short circuit analysis, CT/VT selection, zone-distance coordination, and relay loadability.
Familiarity with grounding design, arc flash studies, and fault analysis.
Excellent communication, leadership, and teamwork skills.
Experience working with EPC firms, utilities, or industrial clients preferred.
Alternative Qualification:
Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering plus 6 years of relevant experience may be accepted.
