  • Preparing breakfast, lunch, and dinner items using a variety of cooking methods, including steaming, baking, boiling, frying, broiling, and grilling.
  • Reviewing menu forecasts and pulling the appropriate quantities of ingredients needed for daily preparation.
  • Preparing ingredients through portioning, chopping, washing, peeling, weighing, measuring, mixing, and proper storage.
  • Preparing cold food items and operating ovens, stoves, grills, microwaves, fryers, and other kitchen equipment safely.
  • Setting up, maintaining, and breaking down your workstation according to company standards.
  • Following standardized recipes, preparation checklists, portion requirements, quality standards, and presentation standards.
  • Testing food throughout preparation to ensure proper cooking, flavor, quality, and consistency.
  • Monitoring food quality and ensuring items are properly portioned and served at the appropriate time and in the correct serving vessels.
  • Maintaining proper food and equipment temperatures throughout preparation and service.
  • Cleaning and sanitizing kitchen areas, tables, tools, knives, equipment, workspaces, storage areas, and floors.
  • Maintaining an organized, clean, and sanitary workstation throughout the shift.
  • Following proper product rotation, storage, cooling, temperature control, and food-handling procedures.
  • Identifying and reporting maintenance concerns or other operational issues to the appropriate Supervisor.
  • Following all company, safety, sanitation, and environmental policies and procedures.
  • Helping control food waste and maintain food cost through proper preparation, portioning, and product handling.
  • Supporting the training and retraining of fellow Curators in food preparation, safety, and sanitation standards.
  • Maintaining open communication and strong teamwork with Kitchen Curators, Supervisors, and other departments.
  • Making sound decisions when needed to maintain food quality and provide an excellent guest experience.
  • Working safely and efficiently with all kitchen equipment.

Education and Experience
  • Previous professional kitchen, restaurant, hotel, or culinary experience preferred.
  • Previous experience preparing food in a high-volume kitchen preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of food preparation methods and kitchen operations.
  • Ability to follow standardized recipes and calculate ingredient quantities.
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Knowledge of proper food handling, temperature control, product rotation, storage, cooling, and sanitation procedures.
  • Ability to safely operate ovens, stoves, grills, microwaves, fryers, knives, and other kitchen equipment.
  • Ability to maintain consistent food quality regardless of business volume or staffing levels.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to adapt to changing situations, staffing levels, procedures, and business needs.
  • Ability to make appropriate decisions to maintain food quality and guest satisfaction.
  • Ability to work independently while also contributing positively to the Kitchen team.
  • Ability to work nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime based on business needs.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods, including six or more hours during a shift.
  • Ability to frequently stoop, squat, kneel, bend, reach, and twist the trunk and neck.
  • Ability to perform repetitive motions throughout the shift.
  • Ability to push, pull, lift, and carry items ranging from light materials to more than 50 pounds, including carts, pans, and trays of food.
  • Ability to work in environments with significant temperature changes, including hot, humid, steam-filled kitchen areas and cold refrigerator or freezer environments.
  • Ability to safely work around hot surfaces, cooking equipment, sharp knives, wet floors, and other common kitchen hazards.
  • Ability to maintain focus, productivity, and attention to detail during high-volume service.
  • Ability to safely handle food, cleaning products, kitchen equipment, and other materials according to established procedures.
