Comments and Other Information
CENTRAL CITY RECEIVED THE CALIFORNIA DISTINGUISHED SCHOOL AWARD IN 2024 & 2026.
We are seeking a passionate, knowledgeable, and inspirational Chemistry teacher to join our team. The ideal candidate is committed to fostering a love of science while challenging students to achieve high levels of academic success. This educator will teach high school Chemistry and guide students toward mastery of the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) through engaging, inquiry-based instruction, laboratory experiences, and meaningful scientific discourse.
We are looking for an educator who believes that every student is capable of excellence and is dedicated to motivating students to become critical thinkers, problem solvers, and lifelong learners. The successful candidate will maintain high expectations while providing the support necessary for all students to thrive.
Our Chemistry teacher will help prepare students for the academic rigor they will encounter in college by emphasizing scientific reasoning, data analysis, evidence-based argumentation, and conceptual understanding. Candidates should be excited to collaborate with colleagues, continually refine their instructional practices, and contribute to a school culture centered on academic excellence, student growth, and continuous improvement.
Central City Value High School is a high-performing, college-preparatory school committed to academic excellence. From 2015-2025, our Similar Schools Ranking consistently placed us among the top 4% of high schools in California. In both 2024 and 2025, our students outperformed more than 90% of neighboring schools on the Smarter Balanced (SBAC) assessments in both English Language Arts and Mathematics. Building on this success, our 2026 SBAC results were the highest our school has achieved in the past ten years, reflecting our unwavering commitment to rigorous instruction, continuous improvement, and outstanding student achievement.
Our commitment to student growth extends beyond state assessments. During multiple semesters, our students demonstrated greater growth in reading and mathematics on the NWEA MAP assessments than 99% of schools nationwide. We also pride ourselves on maintaining an average class size of approximately 23 students, allowing teachers to build meaningful relationships with students while providing individualized support and rigorous instruction.
