Company Description Urban Coders Guild is a pre-college STEM/STEAM program provider focused on building a more diverse and inclusive tech ecosystem. The organization serves Tulsa-area middle and high school students from historically underserved and underrepresented communities. Through equitable access to education and training, Urban Coders Guild helps students explore computer science, IT careers, and tech entrepreneurship. Its programs are designed to be practical, empowering, and future-focused, giving learners real pathways into further education and professional opportunities.

Role Description This part-time Computer Science Instructor role is an on-site position based in Tulsa, OK. The instructor will lead engaging coding and computer science classes for middle and high school students, following established curricula and contributing ideas to enhance lesson plans. Daily responsibilities include preparing instructional materials, delivering lessons, guiding students through hands-on projects, and providing individualized support to learners with different skill levels. The role also involves assessing student progress, maintaining a safe and inclusive classroom environment, collaborating with program staff, and communicating with caregivers or school partners when needed. Instructors are expected to model professionalism, encourage curiosity, and support students’ exploration of academic and career pathways in technology.

Qualifications

• Strong foundational knowledge in computer science concepts and at least one programming language commonly used in education (e.g., Python, JavaScript, Scratch).
• Experience teaching or tutoring youth, with skills in lesson delivery, classroom management, and adapting instruction for diverse learning styles.
• Ability to design or refine simple projects and exercises that reinforce core computing concepts and foster creativity.
• Commitment to equity and inclusion, with sensitivity to the needs and experiences of students from underserved and underrepresented communities.
• Clear verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to explain technical topics in accessible, age-appropriate language.
• Collaborative mindset and reliability in working with program coordinators, school partners, and other instructors.
• Basic proficiency with educational technology tools and familiarity with common development environments or coding platforms used in K–12 settings.
• Preferred: prior experience in K–12 education or youth programming, and coursework or a degree in computer science, education, information technology, or a related field.
