Position Overview

Unity Care Counseling, LLC is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Licensed Behavioral Health Counselor to join our outpatient team. Work Environment

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct thorough mental health assessments to identify the emotional and psychological needs of children and adolescents.
  • Design and implement personalized treatment plans that reflect an understanding of each patient's developmental stage, environment, and family structure.
  • Provide evidence-based therapeutic interventions, such as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) and play therapy, tailored to young clients' specific mental health concerns.
  • Lead family therapy sessions to engage parents and caregivers, helping them develop supportive strategies to foster their child’s resilience.
  • Collaborate closely with child psychiatrists and other multidisciplinary professionals to ensure comprehensive care and support.
  • Offer crisis intervention services for clients experiencing acute mental health crises, swiftly providing support to stabilize their situations.
  • Educate clients and their families on mental health issues, treatment choices, and available community resources to empower informed decision-making.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation, ensuring compliance with legal and ethical standards to safeguard patient confidentiality.
  • Participate actively in team meetings, case reviews, and professional development initiatives to enhance your clinical skills and knowledge.
  • Remain abreast of current trends and evidence-based practices in child and adolescent mental health.
Patient Population / Client Focus

In this role, you will primarily work with children and adolescents facing various mental health challenges including anxiety, depression, ADHD, and other behavioral disorders. Your efforts will directly contribute to improving the mental health outcomes of our young clients, guiding them towards healthier coping mechanisms and emotional well-being.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Psychology, or a related field from an accredited institution. A Master's degree is preferred.
  • Current and valid licensure in the state of New York as an LCSW, LMHC, or LMFT.
  • A minimum of three years of post-licensure experience in mental health counseling, particularly with children and adolescents.
  • Deep understanding of child and adolescent mental health disorders and competencies in various evidence-based treatment modalities.
  • Demonstrated expertise in providing individual and family therapy tailored to diverse clients.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, demonstrating compassion and an ability to build rapport with clients and families.
Preferred Experience
  • Experience working in an outpatient mental health setting, particularly with children and adolescents.
  • Familiarity with telehealth platforms and EHR systems is a plus.
  • Knowledge of local community resources and support services relevant to children’s mental health.
