Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Diagnostic Technician role based in Bowling Green, KY. The Diagnostic Technician is responsible for identifying and troubleshooting mechanical, electrical, and electronic issues in vehicles using diagnostic tools, manufacturer software, and test equipment. Daily tasks include performing thorough inspections, documenting findings, recommending repair actions, and collaborating with service advisors and technicians to ensure accurate estimates and quality repairs. The role involves following dealership and manufacturer procedures, maintaining detailed service records, and adhering to safety and compliance standards in the service bay. The Diagnostic Technician is also expected to stay current on new vehicle technologies, participate in ongoing training, and support a positive, customer-focused service environment.

Qualifications

  • Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting abilities in automotive systems, including mechanical, electrical, and electronic components.
  • Proficiency with diagnostic tools, OBD scanners, manufacturer software, and related testing equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret repair manuals, wiring diagrams, and technical service bulletins.
  • Solid understanding of vehicle safety standards, shop safety practices, and regulatory compliance requirements.
  • Effective communication skills for collaborating with service advisors, technicians, and customers, including clear documentation of findings and repair recommendations.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail to manage multiple work orders and maintain accurate records.
  • Relevant technical training or certification (e.g., automotive technology program, ASE certifications) preferred.
  • Previous experience in a dealership or automotive service environment is beneficial.
  • Ability to work on-site full-time in Bowling Green, KY, including standing for extended periods and handling tools and equipment safely.
