We are Tennis! The USTA New England Section, one of 17 sections of the United States Tennis Association (USTA), is a 501(c)4 not-for-profit organization that serves around 22,500 members in Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, and Vermont. With over 1 million people playing tennis in New England, we are committed to offering quality recreational and competitive programs and experiences for people of all ages and abilities. Purpose of the Role
The Local League Coordinator (LLC) - Eastern Massachusetts oversees all aspects of adult recreational league tennis across the region. Driven by exceptional customer service, this role focuses on recruiting, guiding, and supporting volunteer team captains and players. The LLC oversees the local league provider for the Cape, builds impactful partnerships with local industry stakeholders, and handles end-to-end league administration, including schedules, formats, and other weekly competition logistics. Working closely with local volunteer committees, the LLC plays a vital role in expanding tennis access and driving participation growth throughout the community.

Responsibilities:

• Demonstrates, through actions and interactions with others, a commitment to USTA New England's purpose, mission, and values.
• Promote and administer recreational, adult league tennis (USTA League) in designated communities to ensure successful delivery and growth of the program. This includes but is not limited to:
• Coordinate and attend meetings (virtual or in person) with volunteer committees and team leads (captains), potential players, community members, teaching professionals, facilities, and other tennis providers to promote recreational adult league tennis.
• Familiarize and communicate local league information to participants accurately. 
• Resolve conflicts that may arise amongst participants. Communicate any escalated issues that could rise to supervisor. 
• Communicate and confirm team participation in post-season play.
• Monitor program platform to ensure compliance with local regulations and communicate & correct any violations in a timely manner.
• Assist interested players in getting connected to teams and facilitate new team generation when pockets of players of similar rating level and eligibility level exist. 
• Provide customer service to business customers and other internal & external customers in compliance with organizational standards.
• Manage Cape Cod & the Islands Local League Coordinator position and assist in the growth and development of USTA League in that local area. 
• Collaborate constantly with the department, other departments and volunteer committees, implement recreational adult tennis league offerings to provide an opportunity for everyone to play.
• Assist in the development of new programs to encourage unique and total participation growth.
• Support current and recruit new volunteer captains. Provide appropriate support for captains and players. 
• Make recommendations and, where not available, outline standard program operating procedures when administering the program.
• Build relationships with partners, players, facilities and other key stakeholders that support the growth of tennis in alignment with the organization's strategic plan and department goals.
• Administer and coordinate opportunities for new and returning tennis players to participate in USTA League play.
• Submit updated goals and activity reports to supervisor.
• Assist in data collection and analysis that will enable the USTA League department to understand participation trends and ensure growth.
• Assist in hosting championship events, when necessary. 
• Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities

• Oversee the part-time Cape Cod & the Islands Local League position to drive league operations, community engagement, and regional growth. This includes:
• Onboard and facilitate any training requirements for the role. 
• Set clear performance expectations and growth goals; monitor daily task execution, evaluate progress, and conduct regular check-ins to provide coaching and feedback.
• Assign local responsibilities and manage work schedules-including coverage for local events, captain meetings, match logistics, and local customer service inquiries.
• Monitor performance to ensure assigned duties are being completed effectively and in line with deadlines. Evaluate progress and provide feedback often.
• Ensure local Cape Cod league strategies, timelines, and communications align with broader USTA New England objectives and department goals.
• Identify opportunities for skill-building and leadership development to support the coordinator's growth and maximize local program success.
• Establish general professional development opportunities for intern programs.
• Assist with sourcing, screening, interviewing, and onboarding prospective part-time local coordinators when vacant.

• EVENT COORDINATION - Comfortable coordinating particular tasks and operations for on and off-site events. 
• COMPUTER SKILLS - Proficient with Google Drive and Microsoft Office Suite. Savvy in learning new technology platforms. Familiarity with TennisLink and understanding of tennis preferred. 
• OTHER - High school diploma or equivalent required. Must live in the New England Section with preference given to those who reside in the local area. Must be able to work some flexible hours including evenings and weekends. Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times. Some travel is required throughout the six New England states.

The expected range for the base salary for this position is $44,000 - $55,000.

This range does not include any additional pay or benefits for which a person may qualify. The actual base salary offered is determined by several variables, including, as appropriate, the applicant's qualifications for the position, the years of relevant experience, their unique skills, and the location from which they will be performing the job.
