Senior Commercial Construction Superintendent

Location: Encino, Los Angeles, CA. Primarily assigned to active project sites, with travel based on project requirements

Through USO Building Co., our construction division integrates factory-built modules with site preparation, vertical construction, subcontractor coordination, installation, and final project turnover.

USO Building Co. is seeking an experienced Senior Commercial Construction Superintendent to lead field operations for projects in Encino and throughout the Los Angeles area.

This position serves as the primary on-site leader and is accountable for the safe, efficient, and high-quality execution of construction activities from initial mobilization through final completion.

The Superintendent will oversee subcontractors and internal field personnel, manage short-term schedules, coordinate modular deliveries and setting operations, enforce jobsite safety standards, organize site logistics, monitor workmanship, and ensure construction is completed in accordance with project documents and company expectations.

The successful candidate will be a confident and highly organized field leader who takes ownership of jobsite performance, communicates effectively with project stakeholders, solves problems quickly, and maintains high standards for safety, schedule, quality, documentation, and site presentation.

Key Responsibilities:

Field Leadership and Scheduling

• Direct daily construction activities and maintain overall responsibility for field execution from mobilization through project closeout
• Implement the master project schedule and prepare detailed weekly look-ahead plans
• Communicate upcoming work, required manpower, inspections, deliveries, equipment needs, and critical site activities
• Coordinate subcontractors, USO field employees, material deliveries, equipment, cranes, and other project resources
• Identify potential delays, schedule conflicts, and field constraints before they affect project milestones
• Work with the Project Manager to develop and implement corrective actions and schedule-recovery plans
• Plan and coordinate modular transportation, staging, crane operations, module setting, installation, and sequencing

Safety and Site Security

• Administer the project-specific safety program in compliance with USO procedures and applicable OSHA requirements
• Lead toolbox talks, safety orientations, recurring safety meetings, site inspections, and emergency-preparedness activities
• Enforce personal protective equipment requirements throughout the jobsite
• Immediately correct unsafe practices or conditions
• Document and report incidents promptly and accurately
• Maintain jobsite security and protect tools, stored materials, equipment, installed work, and completed construction

Site Logistics and Organization

• Create and maintain project logistics plans
• Coordinate site access points, staging locations, delivery routes, traffic management, crane placement, and equipment movement
• Maintain a clean, organized, secure, and professionally presented construction site
• Protect finished and partially completed work from weather, damage, construction activity, and interference from other trades

Quality Control and Inspections

• Inspect work regularly to confirm compliance with project drawings, specifications, approved submittals, and manufacturer requirements
• Coordinate municipal inspections, third-party testing, surveys, and required quality-assurance activities
• Identify workmanship issues and ensure corrective work is completed promptly
• Develop, track, and manage punch-list items through completion
• Confirm outstanding items are resolved before final turnover

Subcontractor and Team Coordination

• Direct subcontractors and USO field teams while confirming adequate staffing, supervision, productivity, and workmanship
• Lead recurring subcontractor coordination meetings
• Resolve issues involving sequencing, access, scope responsibility, manpower, and field conditions
• Hold project teams accountable for safety, schedule commitments, quality standards, and jobsite performance
• Communicate professionally with owners, inspectors, architects, engineers, subcontractors, suppliers, vendors, and internal project staff

Field Reporting and Documentation

• Prepare accurate daily field reports
• Document workforce levels, completed work, deliveries, inspections, safety activities, weather conditions, delays, and site developments
• Review and verify time-and-material tickets, field labor records, delivery receipts, and supporting cost documentation
• Maintain current field copies of drawings, specifications, RFIs, submittals, bulletins, and approved change documents
• Identify and document site conditions that may result in RFIs, change orders, subcontractor backcharges, additional costs, or schedule impacts
• Maintain organized field records, including photographs, inspection reports, testing documentation, delivery records, and project as-built information

Closeout and Project Communication

• Assist with warranty records, closeout documentation, final inspections, owner turnover, and project completion requirements
• Participate in weekly project meetings
• Provide clear updates regarding schedule performance, safety, quality, cost exposure, field coordination, and unresolved items
• Drive all remaining work through punch-list completion and final closeout

Qualifications:

• Minimum of 10 years of construction industry experience
• At least 5 years of experience as a Site Superintendent, General Superintendent, Senior Superintendent, or in a comparable field‑leadership role
• At least 3 years of direct, hands‑on field construction experience
• Experience managing commercial, multifamily, modular, design‑build, or general contracting projects preferred
• Demonstrated ability to lead construction projects from mobilization through active construction, punch‑list completion, and final closeout
• Strong understanding of OSHA regulations, construction safety practices, site security procedures, and emergency‑response planning
• Ability to read, interpret, and apply construction drawings, specifications, contracts, RFIs, submittals, change directives, and related project documents
• Experience producing look‑ahead schedules, coordinating multiple subcontractors, and implementing schedule‑recovery strategies
• Familiarity with modular transportation, crane operations, module setting, staging, or installation preferred
• Proficiency with scheduling software, field-reporting systems, cost‑control tools, and construction management platforms
• Working knowledge of construction contracts, time‑and‑material work, backcharges, and change‑order procedures
• Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
• Ability to remain decisive, organized, accountable, and solutions‑focused in a demanding field environment
• Ability to respond to project‑related calls, text messages, and emails within four hours during active construction operations
• Comfortable using CRM systems, daily‑reporting applications, and other field technology on a company‑issued phone or laptop
• Ability to walk active jobsites, climb stairs and ladders, work safely around heavy equipment, and perform the physical responsibilities of an on‑site field leader

Pay and Benefits

• W-2 employment
• Full-time position, generally 40 or more hours per week
• Base salary of $130,000 - $160,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications
• Performance‑based bonus opportunities targeted at $20,000 - $40,000 annually, based on individual, project, and company performance
• Mileage reimbursement for approved business travel using a personal vehicle
