AWS CWI / ICC Structural Steel & Bolting Inspector

US Inspection & Consulting (USIC) is seeking qualified AWS Certified Welding Inspectors (CWI) and ICC Structural Steel & Bolting Inspectors to join our growing inspection team.

We are looking for experienced, dependable professionals to perform structural steel, welding, and high-strength bolting inspections on commercial, industrial, infrastructure, and other construction projects. Candidates with multiple certifications and NDT experience are strongly encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities

• Perform visual welding inspections in accordance with applicable AWS codes, project specifications, approved drawings, and contract documents
• Perform structural steel and high-strength bolting inspections in accordance with applicable IBC, AISC, RCSC, and project requirements
• Verify welder qualifications, WPS requirements, welding processes, consumables, joint preparation, preheat, fit-up, and workmanship
• Inspect structural welds for size, length, location, profile, and visual discontinuities
• Verify proper installation and tightening of high-strength bolted connections
• Perform pre-installation verification testing and observe applicable bolt installation methods
• Review approved structural drawings, shop drawings, specifications, and inspection requirements
• Verify materials and components are consistent with approved project documents
• Document inspection activities through clear, accurate, and timely daily reports
• Communicate nonconforming work or deficiencies to appropriate project personnel
• Coordinate professionally with contractors, fabricators, engineers, clients, and other inspection personnel
• Follow all company and project-specific safety requirements
• Travel to project sites or fabrication facilities as required

Qualifications

Candidates should possess one or more of the following:

• AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI)
• ICC Structural Steel & Bolting Special Inspector
• ICC Structural Welding certification
• ASNT/ACCP or employer-based UT Level II and/or MT Level II qualifications
• Additional ICC Special Inspector certifications are a plus

Preferred Experience

• Structural steel fabrication and erection inspection
• High-strength bolting inspection
• Commercial and industrial construction
• Data centers and large-scale construction projects
• Structural steel fabrication shops
• AWS D1.1 and other applicable AWS codes
• AISC/RCSC requirements
• Reading structural plans, shop drawings, and welding symbols
• Nondestructive testing, including UT and MT
