Shop Helper

In this role you will be providing support to U-Haul repair shop personnel, learning the inner workings of the shop and encountering plenty of opportunities for advancement. Whether you are looking for your first job in the industry or have vehicle-repair experience already, U-Haul is the place for you! We have the largest fleet of trucks and trailers in the industry, and we need a first-class team to keep them maintained for our customers. Shop Helper Primary Responsibilities:
  • Use specialized equipment to dismount, balance and mount tires
  • Maintain and recycle batteries.
  • Maintain a clean work area.
  • Use machinery to turn brake rotors and drums.
  • Rebuild trailer components including brake systems and equalizers.
  • Assist shop personnel.
  • Team Members are expected to willingly lend assistance in additional areas as necessary, following the directives and guidance of their supervisor.

Shop Assistant Minimum Qualifications:
  • Valid driver's license and the ability to maintain a clean driving record
  • Forklift certified

Work Environment:
The work involves moderate risks or discomforts which require special safety precautions, e.g., working around moving parts, machines, fumes, or chemicals. May be required to use protective clothing or gear such as masks, goggles, gloves, or shields.
Physical Demands:
The work requires some physical exertion, such as long periods both indoors and outdoors while remaining stationary, traversing spaces, repositioning to reach and use tools, and moving a minimum of 50 lbs. assisted or unassisted.
