About the Tustin Police Foundation
The Tustin Police Foundation supports the Tustin Police Department, fosters community-oriented policing, and builds vital bridges between law enforcement and our local neighborhoods. We are currently launching major public safety initiatives, including the build-out of our Real-Time Crime Center (RTCC) and deeply expanding our outreach to Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) neighborhoods.
Position Summary
We are seeking an entrepreneurial, self-motivated, and community-minded Executive Director to manage our day-to-day operations, lead our community outreach, and represent the Foundation throughout the City of Tustin.
This is a highly flexible, part-time role (13 hours per week) designed for a proactive leader. Compensation is structured around a steady monthly stipend to cover core administrative and operational duties, combined with successful performance-based program designed to directly reward your success in securing grants and sponsorships for the Foundation.
Core Responsibilities
Community Outreach & City Representation
- Serve as the primary public face and representative of the Tustin Police Foundation to the City of Tustin, local businesses, and community stakeholders.
- Directly lead and execute the CDBG Community Outreach & Safety Enhancement Plan, which includes organizing educational workshops at the Clifton C. Miller Center and coordinating mobile park pop-ups.
- Actively bridge relationships with residents in low-to-moderate-income neighborhoods, ensuring they are connected to public safety resources.
Grant Writing & Fundraising (Primary Growth Driver)
- Identify, write, and secure private, state, and federal grants (including CDBG allocations) to fund Foundation programs and the RTCC build-out.
- Cultivate relationships with local corporate sponsors and individual donors.
Operations & Team Management
- Oversee the day-to-day administrative operations of the Tustin Police Foundation (capped at 13 hours/week).
- Recruit, mentor, and manage a small team of university/local interns to assist with marketing, events, and administrative tasks.
- Report directly to the Board of Directors, providing monthly operational and financial updates.
Compensation & Perks
- Monthly Operational Stipend: $1,000 per month. To ensure compliance with California labor standards, this stipend is structured as a part-time hourly equivalent of $16.90/hour, with expected operational duties strictly capped at 13 hours per week.
- Technology & Travel Allowance: A monthly stipend to cover personal cell phone and gas utilities.
- Lucrative Performance-Based Bonuses: A robust milestone-based bonus structure designed to reward fundraising success. Bonuses are scaled to equal up to a 20% value equivalent of new programmatic funding and grants secured by the Director, subject to Board approval and individual grant terms.
- Schedule Flexibility: Highly flexible, hybrid work schedule (requires attendance at monthly board meetings and scheduled community events in Tustin).
Qualifications
- Proven experience in grant writing, fundraising, or nonprofit development (highly preferred).
- Exceptional public speaking, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to work independently and manage interns within a 13-hour weekly framework.
- Deep passion for community safety, collaborative policing, and supporting the Tustin community.
- Must pass a standard background check.
